I have a 5 month old son, I recently started him on solids, but I am still breastfeeding. My problem is recently my deodorant is not working. I've tried 3 different kinds and nothing has worked. I also use dial soap in the shower. I'm not sure if it has to do with hormones, but its bad when you can smell yourself! Anybody have an idea? Thank You

What can I do next?

Same here. Glad I'm not the only one. Just gives me an excuse to make my husband watch the babies while I take an extra hot bath or shower each day.

hello,
I have a 3 month old little girl. I also use dial, gold and have for years. In my last trimester, I was very stinky! I would take many showers throughout the day and carry deodorant with me everywhere. Everyone told me its just hormones, doctor included, and once I have the baby it will go away. Well, it hasn't! I have also tried many different deodorants and nothing seems to work. I am sorry I do not have any advice for you, but I can sypathize! The one deodorant that seems to last the longest for me is Dove radiant silk, solid. Good luck. Some of these other answers sound good too, Thank you!

When I was breastfeeding my son, now 2yrs old, I had that same problem. I found it starnge so I told his pediatrician about it and she said it was just my hormones! She recommended using an all natural deodorant from Whole Foods. I tried it and it did work, I still use it up until now!!!! It is called "Thai Crystal", it's a clear liquid spray deodorant made from minerals. You can even find it any Health Food store.

Let me know how it goes.

K.,

My son is 8 mnths old, after having him I started to realize, just as you have, that my deodorant wasn't working, which I didn't understand because I've been using the same kind since I first started using it!!! So I switched quite a few times...my fiance would get upset because I was literally buying a new stick every week. I finally settled on Dove. I put it on every morning, and it lasts throughout the day...as long as I'm not doing anything that would make me sweat...like gardening, or making 15 cakes a day! (which I tend to do quite frequently) I think that it does have alot to do with hormones, and I don't know when, if ever it will go away, just take your bath every day, and put some Dove on...oh and btw, I wait about 15-20 mins after my shower to put deodorant on, because if not, if seems to not 'stick'.

I also was going to suggest a more 'natural' route :-)
I love 'liken' deoderant by earth science - I get it at whole foods...I buy whatever they have scented or unscented, but I prefer unscented....my husband uses it too (I sound like a commercial!!) and my sister in law came to visit & used it & now she's hooked, too...

Same thing happened to me. I used degree and it worked. Also, lay off of cheese products. They cause body odor.

When I had this problem years ago, I started using simple baking soda, and I've never stopped. It doesn't take much and I keep mine in a used spice jar that has holes in the top to sprinkle. Hope it works for you. Just don't apply it right after shaving or you'll burn for a day or two.

A friend of mine had this same problem. Her Dr told her to use rubbing alcohol. You can get a pump spray that fits right on top of the bottle or you can buy the little alcohol swabs in the drug store. You'll use it a few times through out the day for a few days and then you'll find you only need it once a day. BO is caused by bacteria and some deoderants will clog your pores over time and trap the bacteria. This helps clear out the trapped bacteria. It worked well for her.
Good Luck.
