I know there have been post of where to find bluebonnets. I live in Arlington and was wondering if anybody has seen a field of them AWAY from the highway. I know 408 and 20 has lots of them but I was trying to find somewhere I don't have to worry about a car loosing control. Thanks

What can I do next?

I know you are in Arlington, but if you have the time to go to Grapevine, there is an empty field just off the access road to 114 between main street and Texan Trail, next to the Ford dealership. We went last week, we parked in the back of the ford dealership and walked over a little hill. The are not as full as they were last year but there are still quite a few. I hope they haven't started to fade yet.

You can find a number of fields that ususally have an abundance of bluebonnets out by the airport. A word of caution however, last year after forcing my husband to take our 2 year old to a field of the lovelies and take her photo, my brother sent me a startling email warning regarding rattle snakes nesting in the bluebonnets. It was disturbing to say the least, so please use caution when placing your little ones down in bluebonnet fields!

There is a Great place in Cedar Hill on New Clark road not far from FM 1382. It is off the street near High Pointe Baptist Church.
Hope this helps!

There are some small patches in the Valley Ranch area on the road that runs behind the Home Depot and The Dump (in the vicinity the NW corner of of 635 and MacArthur). The patches may not be huge but at least it is safe...not much traffic runs thru there and the speed limit is like 35.

Hey K.,
I found some out on Division street on the way to 820.
If you go down Bowen heading North, turn left on to Division (heading West). Get in the Right hand lane. There is a field that has bluebonnets. I realize it is not the best part of town, however you should not have to worry about fast cars. The field is infront of a Lab and next to some houses. Hope this helps, happy pictures.

We took our bluebonnet pics this year at Cook's and I30. There are bluebonnets on side of the onramp from Cook's, going west. It seemed safer than pulling over on the side of the highway, and I've seen several other families there.

You might try along north Greenoaks just north of 30- in years past I've seen several good patches there.

I am in Arlington, but close to Mansfield. Mansfield has some really great blue bonnets on some of their remote roads. I apologize, I don't know the roads off the top of my head, but in just driving around, I am seeing them.

We go to the bluebonnets at I20 and Carrier. You can see them from the highway, but you can't get to them from the highway. I completely feel the same way you do. You can exit Carrier and park at the back of the Target parking lot near the Marble Slab. It's very easy to get to. We take pictures there every year! Hope this helps!

There are many places along I-30 going west thru Arlington to Ft. Worth that have the bluebonnets. I see people stopping all the time to take pics.

Hi K., To Sandy H's response, the location by the Ford Dealership in Grapevine still has lots of bluebonnets. We were there yesterday 4/13. I know it's not the closest area for you but it's definitely a safe location. Just watch for fire ants.

River Legacy Park used to be a good place for bluebonnet pics, but I haven't been there this year to check them out.

We took pictures of the bluebonnets yesterday. Go south on 287 and there are lots of fields and not near as busy as 20 & 408. Have fun!
