I was wondering if anyone out there has has problems with blood in the toilet bowl. Not only when I have a bowl movement but even when i just go pee. But I know its coming from my rectum, not anywhere else. I don't ever have constipation usually I have diareah (sp). I have a BM at least 3-4 times a day. It has been happening for 2 days now. Can anyone give me some advice on this subject. I'd appreciate and help. Thanks : )

What can I do next?

There are so many things that could be going on - serious and not so serious. Get to the Dr! This isn't the right forum for advice. Here's a google article on blood in urine. If you do a google search you'll find hundreds of possibilities but why drive yourself crazy and worse yet waste time if it's really serious.

PLEASE, YOU MUST SEE A DOCTOR. A GASTROINTESTINAL BLEED COULD BE MANY THINGS. I AM A NURSE, THAT IS HOW I KNOW. IT COULD BE COLITIS, IT COULD BE A FISTULA (A TEAR BETWEEN 2 MEMBRANES, THE COLON AND THE BLADDER), IT COULD BE MANY THINGS. AS A WOMAN, YOU NEED TO KNOW. YOU ARE AT RISK FOR ANEMIA OR WORSE. TAKE CARE OF YOURSELF, M.

My advice to you is that if you haven't consulted with your doctor you should immediately. Blood in stool or when you urinate is not normal it can be a sign of something wrong. So please see your doctor or emergency room. I pray all gets well.

I once worked for a colon and rectal clinic in orlando near downtown. Of course I can't say for sure, but it sounds like the lovely hemorrhoidal situation.
Unfortunately, if you don't do anything soon, they could get worse and very uncomfortable.

I can recommend a very good doctor's office and staff. It's the Colon & Recal Clinic of Orlando on Underwood St. behind Orlando Regional Hosp on Orange Avenue.

This is something you should address to your doctor. Although it may not be anything, getting a professional opinion is a safe precaution. Sometimes you can get blood in stool from hemorrhoids. If you don't have bowel movements on a regular basis, that can cause hemorrhoids and then when you finally go, it can cause the hemorrhoids to open. But if it happens also when you pee, then it's best to get in touch with your doctor.

Hi K.,
Your problem could just be hemmerhoids...if you see bright red blood on the tissue after wiping, or on your stool. The fact that it is also in your urine is a little worrysome. If the blood is a dark color, or looks like coffee grinds in any way, or has a foul odor, please go to the ER immediately! Hope you feel better.

Hi K.:

I am not a doctor or nurse, however, I do know that these are important factors that require immediate attention. It is not normal to have blood in your stool if you are not constipated or had a hard time passing your stool as sometimes in those situations you can tear your anal vessels, but for it also to be in your urine is also not normal....So please seek assistance. Best of luck!

I was having the same problem and it turned out to be internal hemmorrhoids. You can't see them or feel them. They are aggravated during a bowel movement and when you pee you may be seeing blood that was left from the previous bowel movement. See your doctor. You may need a colonoscopy or sigmoidoscopy to view the inside of your rectum.

As a woman we get consipated sometimes. Do you think you may have hard stools that cause a little tear to make you bleed? Try a stool softner for a day or two.

On a different note if this continues :
My father in law had blood "in" his stool for several weeks. He ended up having been diagnosed with a bleeding ulcer. I would get it checked out. Worst case scenerio it also could be a sign of internal bleeding.

Just keep an eye on this. Take care.

Call your doctor. I have had that problem, and mine turned out to just be anal fissures, but the bleeding can be a sign of something more serious. I know how scary that is. I have a very strong family history for colon cancer and Crohn's Disease so it was really scary waiting for my colonoscopy appointment. Please do not wait another minute before making an appointment. If it is something serious and you wait, it could make things much much worse. There may not be blood in your urine also. I have problems with blood just dripping from my butt when I pee (I know that sounds gross).

I have had this off and on for a couple of years. I don't have any insurance so have not been to Dr., but I noticed it happens whenever I eat dairy products. I rarely have dairy now so it almost never happens. I also now take enzymes with my food and I know that helps. Besides having blood in stool dairy would sometimes give me terrible lower abdominal cramps. I am 40, this all started in later 30's. I hope this helps somehow! God Bless!
