I am 27 and I have never had a problem with bladder infections until now. I have three kids and my youngest is 16 months. In the past 7 months I have gotten 3 UTI's and I just wanted to know if anyone else has this problem of has had this happen to them. The doctor doesn't seem worried but I am alittle concered,, I guess maybe because I've never had this happen before. I would love your feedback. Also, is the cranberry pills just as good as drinking the cranberry juice?

Ok,it's Tuesday now and I am no longer burning but I feel pressure in my pelvic floor not hurting but uncomfortable.. I don't know what this means or if I'm creating this pain myself because I'm thinking about it all the time. I was thinking it's because I haven't had a BM since starting the antibiotics so could that be where the pressure is coming from? Thanks! I'm going nuts here!

What can I do next?

So What Happened?

Thank you so much everyone with your advice with my problem. You know I have been wondering about the bath and as a matter of fact I went to the Doctor Thursday with the bladder infction and by Sunday my symptoms were almost gone. Well, Sunday I took a bath before we went to church and by the time we got home I was burning again so I think you guys are so right about the bath. I am going to try the no bath and see if that helps. Thanks so much.

I had this problem when I was pregnant! which was horrible because then you can't really take anything but cranberry. My midwife gave me UriCare by Trilight Herbs. It helped a lot and I still take it anytime I feel anything coming on at all. Plus it's all herbal so I would much rather take that then take antibiotics daily. The cranberry pills have helped me in the past though and they are better than drinking the juice. The main thing if you take the pills is that you need to drink a ton of liquids because you need to flush your system. Hope you feel better soon!

I got them a lot more often right after I had my daughter. Like the pp said, cranberry juice (the 27% cranberry juice, not the pure stuff, tastes awful lol) works wonders! I still have 2-3 a year, but I never need to go to the doctor for a rx because cranberry juice takes care of it.

Good luck!

I hear your pain. The best thing to do is quit taking baths.. just do showers. Use a super gentle cleanser and rinse well when you shower. Launder your skivvies in dye and fragrance free detergent and rinse well. Then dry on high heat and stick with 100% cotton undies only. Drink a ton of water, and have a glass of cranberry juice daily. If you're eating a bunch of processed foods, stop and stick with foods in the original way they come from nature. When you cook them, make sure you're not using a seasoning blend with a bunch of sodium in it. Nature's Plus makes a great cranberry supplement they call Love Bites... it's cranberry extract in a heart shape and very tasty. Try these for a while. When you do have a UTI and you're uncomfortable, take an AZO Standard pill and down a bunch of water. Adios the sodas and coffee. If this doesn't help, you may need to book an appt. with a urologist and forego seeing the reg. doctor for this again. I needed a simple procedure years ago.. don't know what it was called...I was a kid with UTI's.... but they took a deflated balloon type thing and once they had inserted it in my urethra, they inflated it to sort of stretch it out. It did the trick, I had no pain, and never needed it again. I haven't had a UTI in years, and when I have - I took care of it through water, Love Bites, and diet. I used Azo Standard to get through the crappy discomfort the urinating caused. Feel better soon!

Drink the cranberry juice. I've never found a pill with quite the same content. I have been told that in a normal healthy marriage, UTI's are not uncommon. Read between the lines here, but like you, I never had a problem with them until I developed kidney stones and any Doc can tell you that UTIs come with kidney stones AND come right back with them if they don't pass.
Also, kidney stones are not always painful. This of course is just one possibility, but I believe a person should always trust their instincts about their bodies. You might want to persue some follow up on this.
Good luck to you,

I HAVE to stay OUT of the tub. Like someone else said...no matter how clean the tub is....I will get a bladder infection. I have found by cutting out the bath I stop getting the infections.

I do drink cranberry juice on a regular basis.

Those are a pain...I hope you find relief for yourself.

Hell S.,

An alternative route yet very safe & effective, a supplement, aloe vera Berry Nectar Juice. Go to www.foreverliving.com, in the Drinks Section. This will assist you with the UTIs and it's also very high in antioxidants, vitamins C, A and potassium.

Please feel free to contact me with questions. Thank you.

If you do end up at the urologists office, I wanted to recommend Urology Associates of North Texas http://www.uant.com/
I've seeen adn really like Dr Tchetgen and Dr Haluszka.
If it were me, I'd go see a urologist-Any time I get a bladder infection it is miserable! I can't imagine having that many so close together!
Good luck!

I would suggest seeing a urologist and they can put you on prventative meds for UTI. I take a small dose of an antibiotic daily it seems to do the trick!! Don't hold your bladder any longer than needed ever!!

I was about 23 (and kidless) when it seemed like I was getting one every other month for almost a year. I got them when I was on the nueva (sp?) ring. Also, when I was on antibiotics for a sinus infection (which I was getting every other month too), I would get one. I think the antibiotics were killing the good bacteria. Once my sinus infections stopped and I stopped taking antibiotics, the baldder infections stopped. One of the ways I overcame them was drinking a glass of cranberry juice everyday for almost a year. They also sell cranberry pills in the vitamin dept at grocery stores. I also stay away from baths (if I take one, no matter how clean the tub is, I automatically get one). Sorry I'm not much help, but I have felt what you're going through before.

I agree with the others, no baths, cotton underwear only, etc. Also, if I drink more than one soda, especially Dr Pepper or even high acid drinks like Margaritas, I will get one. The only soap i can use is Dove and Ivory, that will not irritate it. Also, use the bathroom after sex, everytime. Old timers call it honeymoon syndrom.
