So far I've only discovered one birthing center in Denver, Mountain Midwifery. Does anyone have any positive or negative stories to share about MM? Does anyone know of any other options?

Thanks and love for your insight!

MMC is the only free standing birthing center in the state of CO at this time. I am 34 weeks pregnant and have been going there from the start and LOVE IT! My husband and I could not be happier with the MMC, the midwives are wonderful. I would suggest you go to one of their orientations, you can find the days and times listed on their website. It will give you a feel for what they do and don't do and allows you to ask questions and see the facility.
Good luck!

I have a friend who was going to deliver there. She was very happy with them, but was unable to deliver there due to complications. My cousin and his wife also had there baby at the birthing center, and loved it. They had a great experience there. I plan to look seriously at using it for my next baby. They opened half way through my pregnancy, and I didn't want to change providers. I had home birth with my first using Yalad Midwifery. You might check them out, if that is an option you would be comfortable with.

Good luck! I hope your pregnancy goes well.

I am a doula and going through a training right now to work with their clients and am so impressed! I love all the midwives and their whole outlook on birth. I highly recommend it, and I don't get paid by them by the way. I truly belive in what they are doing! I'd be happy to answer any questions!

I switched to Mountain Midwifery around 24 weeks (from Boulder Women's Care) because I wanted personal, individual attention during my first pregnancy. I was so impressed by Tracy Ryan and the level of care that I received. Each appointment with her lasted about 1 hour (compared to 15-20 minutes elsewhere). She is a very confident and competent midwife. I was on track to deliver at the center until we found out that my son was breach. Unfortunately, midwives cannot deliver breach babies in the state of CO, but luckily the doctor that backs up Tracy in emergency situations (Dr. Michael Hall at Swedish) does deliver breach babies. So, without going into the full details of the situation, Tracy ended up being my doula at Swedish instead of my midwife. Luckily, I was still able to have a vaginal delivery without drugs, so it was kind of close to what the delivery would have been like at the midwifery center. I highly recommend Tracy and Mountain Midwifery and intend to go there again with any future pregnancies. Best of luck to you!!
