I am planning my son's 2nd birthday party. I am having trouble selecting a venue that is inexpensive. I live in Skokie and would like to find a venue close by. Are there any recommendations out there?

Thanks,

What can I do next?

Hi L.,

How about the Skokie Exploratorium? There is a discounted rate for Skokie residents, which struck me as pretty reasonable.

Check out this directory, too. I found it helpful in finding a venue for my daughter's 3rd birthday party:

Hi L.,
Check out the online Birthday Party Guide on www.kidwinks.com. It lists 400+ birthday party venues throughout the Chicago area, and many have reviews from other parents. If you become a member of kidwinks, which is free, you can then sort the list by distance from your house so you can easily find what's nearest you.

Here's the direct link to the Guide: http://www.kidwinks.com/ForKids/6/KidsBirthdayPartyPlaces...

Kidwinks is also a great source for finding things to do with your kids. The Events Calendar is full of fun happenings, including the free days at area museums, the Kids Eat Free Calendar lets you click on a day to find where kids eat for free (or cheaply, or where they can be entertained by a magician, etc. during the meal), and you can click through the Ongoing Activities Section to find things like children's museums, nature centers, bowling alleys, etc. etc.

Good luck finding your birthday party place!

J.

I would suggest The Family Room in Evanston. There is parking and the space is wonderful -- plenty of age-appropriate toys to keep the kids busy. http://www.famroom.org/

Skokie park district has birthday party packages as well as the YMCA for low prices. Gymboree in old orchard has great parties for $200-300 or so.
