Birthday Party Suggestions for Six and Seven Yr Old Girls

First, I love all of the creative suggestions here. Too bad mine are too old for these kinds of parties now. When they were having birthdays at this age, I remember trying to find party ideas that weren't so expensive. One frustrating thing about the home birthday parties was that the themed decorations, cups, plates, napkins and gift bags seemed to cost as much as having a party at Chuck E Cheese. So I quit buying those expensive party things just use plain or colored paper goods. One year my son had an alien party. We had black plates and let the kids put glow in the dark space stickers on them. I quit buying goody bags with all the trash toys in them, and would get a coloring book for each kid or something like that...one item that they will keep and use. Parents will love you for that! The dollar store is a great place for all of these items.

I hear ya! Do something different, think about what she likes and jot down ideas -- and ask her! My son came up with "Party in the Dark" when he was 9 --flashlights, glow stick necklaces from Walmart for $1 ea., little lanterns and flashlight tag, black frosted homemade cupcakes and voila!

He said he had the most fun of any party and would do it again.
Once my older son went bowling with two friends, then I took some of his collection of old cell phones ,stuck an antenna in the cake and they pretended to be secret agents, the President's security force, golf caddies on the Master's Tournament . . . a few m and m's and food and they were good.

If it's nice, hard to predict the weather, a scavenger hunt outdoors, maybe at the river park down along 285/75, find these 20 things in nature, take inexpensive cameras and develop the pictures for scrapbooking . .
think about colors, walk around wal-mart . . . sometimes it just comes to you!

I don't know what time you have planned this party for but unless you included a meal in the invitation it is not necessary. Birthday Cake and vanilla ice cream with some nuts on the side would be plenty. If the weather is not good then you must plan for some inside games. Go to a party store. I know children still love to play musical chairs. You need some action games and some they would play sitting down. Limit the party to 2 hours maximum as that is a long time for these children to play and have fun. Be sure and hve some inexpensive prizes for all your winners. If you must give them a meal, then you can get some very nice Pizzas at Sams Club and cook them yourself for a lot less than at Chickie Cheese. Chips and veggeies with dips would be appreciated by most too. V.

I remember when my daughter turned 7. We had such a fun and cheap party. I had the girls over for a sleep-over but you would not have to do it that way. First the girls picked numbers to arrange their "cooking teams". I had Chef-Boy-RD (sp?) pizza kits with etra topping stuff. They made the dough, spread it out, topped the pizza and cooked them. Some made pudding and cupcakes. They had so much fun making their meal. Later my friend who volunteered to help for the night and I put out dress-up clothes and the girls did a fashion show. We had music and lights and my daughter was the MC. She introduced the girls and their designs. I taped it and after they finished they watched it over and over. When they got tired of that my friend and I did "manicures" and "pedicures" on the them with bright, fun colors my daughter had picked out. next was a movie while they fell asleep. It was a lot of work for me but it was so much fun for all of us.

I know this is now an idea over 20 years old, but when I look at my little girl (who is 4) i think she would love it even today. For my 8th birthday, my mom bought as many different-colored packs of trash bags as she could find. She split us into teams of two and sent us into another room to "design" an outfit in a set amount of time (can't remember how long - 10 minutes?) We had scissors and tape and the creativity that only little girls have, and we came up with some of the most "beautiful" fashion statements around - and had a blast. She let us have a little fashion show, and the "model" from the group showed off the outfit while the "designer" described it to everyone. So you've got the cost of trash bags, ice cream, and cake (and scissors and tape if you don't already have them).

We are doing a tea party with decorate your own my little ponies as the party favors. The ponies run about 5$ a piece and can be found on the my little pony website. You can either order a cupcake cake or make some if you think you have the time.

The other little girls arrive in their Princess crowns and favorite glittery things that should already have - Halloween costumes, etc. Get some pizza bites, little tea cookies and scoop out some melon balls. It is a big treat to let them use sugar cubes for their tea. Don't have tea cups? Go to your favorite thrift store and buy a hodge podge of little tea cups and let it be there going home prize. You can take your daughter to the store with her guest list and let her pick one for each of her little friends. Attach their names to the handle with a piece of satin ribbon. This becomes there take hom party prize. Plan it at 3 which is tea time. Ask some of your adult friends to be on hand to paint nails. Get a kids party CD and let them dance.

If you don't mind having all the girls in your home and making a little mess in your kitchen, you could have a make-your-own pizza and cupcakes party. Just get little ready-made pizza crusts or English muffins, pizza sauce, cheese, and toppings, and let them put them together themselves. Then have cupcakes already made and let them decorate with icing, m&ms, jelly beans, sprinkles, marshmallows, redhots, etc. Little girls love doing stuff like that. Play music and put out some games like twister, indoor bowling, etc. Take lots of pictures and include a picture of each girl in the thank-you card you send her later.
Birthday parties don't have to have themes or cost a lot of money. I went to a party just like this when I was a little girl--I had a blast and still remember it!

I just had a b-day for my 6 year old last weekend and it was a manicure party at my home. There were 10 girls and I didn't have to fork over a ton of money to make it fun for everyone. My husband made a sign that said "Nail Salon" and hung it on the front porch. Ås the girls came in, they dropped off the presents and headed for a salt scrub in the kitchen sink to "prep" their hands for the manicure. After that they went to the table to have their nails painted from a choice of 6 colors. Then they could have a flower sticker placed on some of their nails. After that, a clear topcoat and a blast from the cool button of the hairdryer to dry their nails. While the girls were waiting, I had giant coloring pages for them to color.

I purchased most of this from Walmart - they have a package of tiny bottles of multi color polish for about $5. The stickers were $2, and the salt scrubs run about $7-$10. I baked cupcakes and tinted the frosting in pink, yellow, blue, violet & green & had vanilla ice cream. For favor bags I gave each girl a bottle of polish, nail files, polish remover pads, lip gloss rings, hair bands, and 2 valentine sugar cookies that I had baked. We had balloons as decorations for the table. They had a blast, and it was EASY and inexpensive!

Parties at other locations are easy on your house, but not the wallet! We've done both, and I have to say, this was a lot of fun, and you didn't feel rushed that your time was up!

Here's what I do - have a party at the playground. Bring a tablecloth and have cake there. Provide pretzels and chips and drinks. Get a balloon. Not too expensive. The warehouse clubs have the cheapest cakes, although Walmart is probably cheap, too.

I don't know if you've already invited a lot of kids but what about having her chose a few friends and have a sleep over? Make popcorn and brownies, play a few games, watch movies, etc. You could call it a princess sleep over and they can come dressed in costumes, decorate like that too. That would be very inexpensive. My daughter is 8 and I think that's what we'll do next year.
