Does this sound good to you??? Or any suggestions.

For my daughter's birthday party we are providing lunch. Of course we will have a cake afterward but I was planning on making, Mostacolli with maranara and one with meat sauce (2 kids are Vegetarian) salad, garlic bread, fruit tray, veggie tray and cake. (assuming parents stay with their kids)

Tired of ordering pizza which I know is the most convenient but thought that pasta would be a good thing?

What can I do next?

What about doing like a pasta bar? Have the pasta cooked with a choice of sauces, and then people can help themselves - marinara, meat sauce, or plain (if there are kids who just like butter and no sauce). You can also still have mac and cheese as an option too.

I was going to suggest adding mac & cheese also. One of my kids is picky and I know they wouldn't enjoy either of those pasta's although I find they sound yummy.

My friend last year picked up subs from Subway for kids & adults for her daughters birthday party. Well my daughter does not like subs. (She likes turkey just not on sandwiches) Anyway, I offered to make her a peanut butter sandwich and ended up making them for the majority of her friends. My friend thanked me up and down for thinking of that idea as most the kids were declining to eat until I brought out the peanut butter. :)

How about a homemade mac and cheese for people that dont like sauce (alot of kids dont) to go along with what you have planned. Maybe you wouldnt need 2 of the mostacolli either. Just do the meat one and mac and cheese

It would sound good to me but my youngest would turn up his nose. Could you leave some of the pasta plain or have a jar of cheese sauce-Ragu makes a good sauce that I use. My kids then call it homemade mac and cheese-or just plain pasta with butter and parmesan could be an option.

Just a thought-he would probably make due with the other stuff.

you don't say how old the kids are - but pizza is poular beucase it's not all that messy and can be eaten with hands. Small snadwiches made ahead of time are always a good option (PBJ, turkey, cheese, baloney cut off crust and cut into triangles). chicken nuggest are another good option. but unless these kids are 10+ I'd avoid the red sauce.

Excellent idea! sounds delicious! Everybody likes pasta!

Since you are being so considerate maybe you would like to have a small pack of sausages or chicken nuggets in the fridge just in case there is a kid that do not eat pasta... but ofcourse that is just optional, those are things I would have in my fridge and eat anyway!

Good for you that are doing something different!

Papa Murphy's has these small pizzas called mini murphs. They are pizza kits that the kids can actually make themselves. My kids love them and we have gotten them for playdates before. I can put about 5 in my oven at a time for 10-14 minutes. we got a veggie tray and then had cupcakes for dessert. Super fun! My kids are 3 and 4.5, they were able to manage spreading the sauce and cheese on themselves with minimal mess!

That sounds wonderful! It is a lot of food, you could even cut the fruit or veggie tray if you would like to. Can I come to the party...lol!

Sounds good! Can I come? Lol. My only suggestion would be to have some plain noodles as well incase somebody doesn't like sauce (my kid) .

I would make some plain mostacholi too. Many kids will not eat the sauce. If there r dairy allergies they can eat this too. Most kids just like buttered noodles and Parmesan cheese to sprinkle on. Also I would make sure no one is gluten free and if there is just. And some gluten free pasta as well. I think this sounds fabulous!

Sounds delicious. I wished I lived closer to you. I would totally ask for an invite.

You don't mention how old the kids will be but most kids like food. I do wraps for parties. I prepare them in advance and cut them into quarters and I put them on a large tray of veggies. It looks amazing and tastes delicious at a fraction of the costs of having them made at at shop. I even found some carrot and spinach wraps which added some great orange and green colors.

Congratulations on the Birthday Celebration.

How old are the kids? Sounds yummy, but a little messy depending on their ages. Marinara sauce and preschoolers... no way! Marinara sauce and 8 yr olds.. maybe. If they are little and the party is in your home, I would NOT do a sauced anything!

For my son's 3rd birthday (all the parents stayed), we did a 6' sub, macaroni salad, chips, fruit salad, veggies w/dip, and chicken poppers with dips. It was super easy (ordered it from a gourmet market and it was shockingly cheap) and there was nearly nothing left!

I'm with you, though... sick of pizza too! I think that's why there was nothing left at my son's party- people actually ate!
