Birthday Party Ideas for 8 Year Old

I have been trying to think of a place to have a birthday party for my son who is turning 8 in April. In the past, we've done Main Event, ChuckEcheese, and the park but i'm trying to find something different. I thought about having it at our gym and do a rock climbing party but I wanted to see what else is out there before I commit to that because it is pretty pricey. We live in the North Dallas/Richardson area. Does anyone have any suggestions?

What can I do next?

Hi A.,

Pump It Up is fun if they have one near you. It's all indoor bounce houses so by the time the party is over, the kids are happily exhausted...just the way we like 'em!

For an 8 year old boy, I would suggest Lazer Tag. They have it at Strikz in Frisco and it's $4.00 per child. They also have games and bowling there.

Pump it Up is great for that age, especially if you are wanting a large party.

You might consider Planet Pizza in Plano. Indoor amusement park. But go first to see if it would be something you want. We have had several birthday parties there and the kids loved it.

Also most bowling alleys have bumper bowling.

Two other ideas would be an ice skating party ( planning one at Dr Pepper Star Center in Plano and a Karate party at a local school for karate ).

Hi,
My daughter is 8 1/2 now and we had 'the exotic animal show' by 'Grisham Farms' for her 8th birthday. Stephanie the owner of the farm has so many exotic animals like chinchillas, snakes, guinea pigs etc. She will bring 8 animals and explain about them for a 45 minutes presentation. All of the guests were very excited and you ask me she was very reasonable. You can get the details at www.grishamfarms.org.
Good luck!

I suggest the indoor water park at the Rodenbaugh Natatorium in Allen. It is very reasonably priced and the kids love it! Since it is indoors it is climate controlled so it doesn't matter what the weather is doing. We had my daughter's 9th birthday there in December and she was thrilled.

There is also a rock climbing wall there if you wanted to do that before swimming.

Go for Adventure Landing. I had my daughter's birthday there just a couple months ago and last year. Everybody had fun. It's like 11.99 per kids and it includes alot-worth it..

We are having our son's party at a local Fire station. You can call you're local stations and see if they offer the same sort of program. Here it is free... We will take dinner for the Firefighters as a thank you. They will have about an hour long program on fire stuff, tour of the station and getting on/in the truck. If he is into that kind of stuff you can't beat the price and it is something different.
