My sweet little daughter is turning 3 this week, and we are having a birthday party this weekend.
It will be held at our home, with homemade pizzas, finger foods and sweet treats. There will be about 6-10 kids here, ages about 2.5-4ish
The question is that Im not sure what kind of games would be fun to do with them? our house isnt that large and, living in the mtns of VT (party held at night)....doesnt allow a lot of outside playtime.
any ideas or suggestions are very much appreciated
thanks~

For my son's b-day we had a craft table and we had a bunch of stamps and different colored stamp pads, so the kids made pictures with the stamps. Also, we had these foam stickers (for lack of a better word) we bought at AC moore or Michaels. They have every theme you could imagine. The kids were able to make pictures with those also. The kids basically played, did crafts, ate, played, had cake and did presents. The party was about 3 hours.
Good luck and happy birthday to your little one!

Wow - that's a lot of kids for a 3 year old's party! We always followed the "year" rule - at 3, there are 3 kids invited, at 5, there are 5 kids invited, and so on. It's hard to organize anything for little kids. You could try some sort of very simple craft with adult help - sticking foam shapes on a foam picture frame, for example, and then e-mailing everyone a picture of their own child later on. There is a big difference between what 2.5 year olds can do and what 4 year olds can do. With the homemade pizzas, that's probably enough organized activity.

Otherwise I would sit in a circle and sing things like "The Wheels on the Bus" and other fingerplay songs that engage everyone, and otherwise let them just play with whatever toys they choose. They will not understand birthdays, and the little ones will not understand why your child gets presents that they don't. Sometimes that can get ugly! So I would just take a few pictures with the cake, and be done with it!

Congrats on your daughter's birthday!

at my nephews 3 yr party and my son's 3 yr party we played pin the tail on whatever the theme character was my nephew had scooby do, my son had spider man, they also played a game where the kids sat on balloons trying to break them to see he could pop the most., hot potato, musical chairs might be a little difficult for the little ones but might be worth a shot, we usually do some type of crafty thing at our parties. We decorated easter cookies at my little one's party and we will be decorating grahm cracker ginger bread houses at my older son's party this year but have done ornaments and gingerbread men in the past.

Limbo with some fun music is a hit with that age group!

I would keep it simple. Do a version of pin the tail on the donkey (our theme was spiderman so we did pin the glasses on Doc Oc. A friend did pin the lei on the hula girl, etc.). Maybe limbo, we did this at my son's 4th birthday. They didn't really "get it" but they absolutely just loved walking in circles and going under the broom. A scavenger hunt could be fun too. A friend did this with younger kids, they just brought the found clues to a grown up to read. It was a team effort and the kids really liked it. But with young ones make sure your clues are pretty obvious. GL!

Well I wouldn't really do much. I would mostly let them play with maybe one game and a craft station. You could also do a tattoo station, kids love tattoos! You could play hot potato or pin the tail on the donkey. You could even do a little dance contest or something...keep dancing until you fall down maybe. Do you have a theme for the party? You could do a craft centered around that theme, if not, maybe a holiday craft might be nice. Will the parents be there with them? If not, do a simple craft, if so it can be a tiny bit more elaborate. Have fun!

We did a pinata at a party that was super fun for the kids. Instead of beating it with a stick, it had a bunch of ribbons trailing from it and each kid got to pick a ribbon. Only one of them would open the pinata, the rest just pulled off. The kids were all 3-4 and loved it.
