My daughter is turning 6 and has decided to have a "Dress-up/Glamour Party" for her birthday. She will be inviting 12 girls to our house. I have asked 2 older girls to come over to polish their nails and do a little bit of make up. The guests will be invited to wear/bring their favorite dress up dress and I'll let them know that my daughter has extras that can be borrowed as well if they need one.

Do any of you creative moms have suggestions for games to play or special decorating ideas that will go well with our theme? Also any creative goody bag ideas would be appreciated as well.

Thank you,
K.

We have had the children perform a play when it is a small group, or a fashion show with a larger group. 12 is probably better for a fashion show. You could incorporate the photo shoot in with the show. I have 3 girls, 5, 10 and 13, and my older two help out with the 5 year olds parties. We have also done beaded bracelets and decorated crowns and wands. My daughter went to a party where they dug for jewels in the sandbox. Games where there is one 'winner' at that age can cause hard feelings, b/c someone usually ends up not winning anything, even if you plan it so that you think you have enough games for eveyone to win something. Really anything girly you can think of will work. Have fun!

My daughter had one of these and we made bonnets and bead jewelery for the games. We also had a tea party with finger sanwiches and cake.

Set up a photo shoot area and take their pictures Glamour Shot style when they are all done up. Print out copies to include with their thank you note. I think a small compact mirror and lip gloss or magnetic earrings would be great in a goody bag for this. Have a great party & happy birthday to your little girl.

you could read the story of the princess & the pea and stack some heavy comforters and hide a marble or "pea" and they can check if they are a "real" princess. You could try a tiara relay race. Have them race around while keeping the tiara on their heads w/no hands and pass it on to the next in line etc. For goody bags could create some simple purses from scrap fabric if you sew and fill with lip gloss, body glitter, inexpensive hair accessories and a few pieces of candy. Good Luk!

Party City has a picture pose where the girls sit behind a cutout and it looks like they are riding in a carriage.

For goody bags you could use a little decorative purse! fill it with- lip gloss/colored chapstick; princess crowns; a small tiara; gloves; necklaces. plastic ring; bracelet;

Buy foam or wooden frames and let them decorate them with rhinestones, sequins, glitter or stickers. Take pictures of them all dressed-up and put them in the frame. Activity and party favor all in one!!

You should have a fashion show!! Have an announcer for what they are wearing, music, and a "red carpet."

You can go to orientaltradingcompany.com they have party favors/ supplies you can buy in bulk. The have boas and cute girly things! I love the photo shoot/ fashion show idea! I'm going to have to use that one. There is a Fancy Nancy book called Fancy Nancy Tea Parties. It has a lot of cute ideas for table decor , food, invites and games. Check the library or even the book store for it. Fancy Nancy is great books for her age!

Maybe get some beads from Michaels and some stretchy sting and let them make their own jewelry.

For my daughter's 5 yr old party we played a game where the girls sat in a circle and were each given a small bottle of nail polish, we played music and they passed the nail polish to the right and when the music stopped whatever color they had in their hand they would paint one toe. Then the music would start again and they would again pass the polishes around until the music stopped again and they would paint another toe. This continued until all toes were painted then you could include the last nail polish bottle they ended up with in the favor bag if you want... I think I found the small bottles at Walmart and they were no more than a dollar each. The girls loved it and my daughter even wanted to play it again the following year! I also had helpers around to help those needing help.
