depends a bit on what kinds of things your DD and friends like. My DDs love doing crafts so for their 8th b-day we had a "Get Cre8ive" party with a few recycled-product craft ideas I got off the 'net like the "Cereal box sandals" from familyfun.com , paper bag puppets (self-explanatory - DD's had a ball doing these at a children's museum and it was a simple and inexpensive thing to do at their party), origami, etc.. I had some wooden clothespins (a couple dozen that cost me a few bucks at Target) that I intended to use for hanging crafts up to dry, but a few girls decided it would be fun to decorate those too and so they markered and glitter-glued the clothespins for memo holders. Lots of fun on a minimal budget, and I just swept the trash up and put it in the recycle bin at the end of the party!

birthdaypartyideas.com!!! I've gotten a ton of ideas for games. etc. on that site. I usually tweak the games a little so they work best for my kids or our theme or whatever. Have fun. I'll be planning an 8 year old girls birthday party soon too!
