These girls like lip gloss and beauty tips...it is very inexpensive way to have a party and have each girl feel like a queen! It is also nice for them to learn how to look sweet not cheap! Excuse the bluntness...but lots of girls advice early before they get their minds set on dark eyeliner!

Let me know if you'd like more info...good luck!

How about music party? Buy a disco ball and highschool musical theme? Set your living room or basement up like a dance party with microphones so they can sing and eat pizza, finger snacks, chips, popcorn, candy or carrot sticks. You could include a dress up station with mirror and new makeup and finger nail polish you bought just for her birthday. She could shop with her and her sister (they can pick it out together) because part of the fun is having them help plan the party so they make it their own.

I like these type of parties because they can feel independent about how their party is going, but they have you to assist and plan if needed. This beats the slumber party where they play truth or dare and call boys LOL.

You go mamasource mom! Have fun!

Well...being as I am a nail tech by profession!!! I would say a lil pamper party! Now is the time to help lil girls to be girlie...paint nails and toe nails ...serve cup cakes and sparkling cider...maybe a girlie movie and sleep over. The ideas are endless... I have 17 year old and she was so...into all of this at 9! Not in a shallow way but a fun creative (decorate with stripes and poke-a-dot)nails way!
Good luck!

If your child has a lot of activities with a lot of friends, and you want to go all out, but without the HUGE expense? I suggest looking at the themes at Oriental Trading Company. Great package deals on all kinds of different themes. You pick it together, or keep it a surprise. You can have a great party for under 200, with cake and all! (Cakes are not sold here, but you can easily get one at the store.) These guys even offer games, markers, sticks, balloons, etc --You just have to blow them up, or get them blown up at your local balloon shops, which is inexpensive, or buy a tank from WAL-Mart. We did it last year for both of our girls.
My eldest had a Bratz Theme, my Youngest had Barbie. They loved it.

I only recomment this if you plan on having at least 5-12 kids at the party, or people that like to have party favors and some fun on a child's level. You may be surprised what they have to offer.

Good luck!

That's a good age for a crafting party. Put together kits to make a simple project of jewelry, cloth or felt purses, make soap, perfume, knit, felt, make your own cupcakes and decorate, or any project activity...

Cheap and easy party idea:

We recently had a Scavenger Hunt party at the mall for our 9 yos birthday. We did it at Clackamas; any mall would work.

We split the kids into teams of 3 or 4, each team with an adult or teen. There were 6 clues (eg. "This is Granny's favorite candy shop. The logo is black and white. Find it, and write down the price of dark chocolate caramels".) The kids would have to read the clue, figure it out, find the store and write down the answer. Each team had the same 6 questions, in a different order, but they all had the same last question, so they all ended at the same place. Then we had cake.

Each team had clues, pen, etc. in a ziploc bag. The adults on the team couldn't help, only keep them from getting lost. Some clues required them to unscramble the location name, some to do a little something, some to get information or a business card. This kept them from just figuring out the answers without going to the stores.

My eldest daughter went to a Sweet 16 party where they did the hunt downtown all over fareless square. Both ages loved it!

I have a 10 year old "step" daughter. She is into My Lil Pet Shop...Those go over really well with the girls! You can get a puppy cake pan at Micheals and decorate it with her to enjoy that special moment in time together. The LPS toys are at Wal-mart or any where toys are sold at. Hope the birthday goes over well!

My 7 year old daughter just had a party, we went to Michaels and bought plain t shirts, they have all different colors, about 4 bucks a piece. Then we bought all sorts of different iron on decals. The girls decorated their shirts and then I ironed them on for them. I also found at Michaels some candy jewelry that they put together. Just an idea, may be to young for your daughter. You could also do some "spa" stuff like painting fingernails/toenails. All the girls loved it, I took a picture of each of them in their tshirts with the birthday girl and sent them as thank you cards.

We just had a lovely tea party! We went to the second had store and bought tea cups and saucers. Each individual so the kids could pick the one they liked. We then had several herbal teas and fancy cocoas to choose from. And my daughter and I made fancy frosted crumpets instead of birthday cake. I found some cheap paper doilies at a craft shop. The party favors consisted of the tea cups and a package of cocoa.
When I was looking up this idea I found sooo many internet sites with great ideas!

My sister's daughters were both about that age when their birthday party was a tea party! They loved it! And all the girls dressed up in formal attire - you know, Mom's old prom dresses kind of thing. You could hit a couple of thrift stores and make a trunk of costume stuff for the girls. I have a 2 1/2 year old boy, so all I can do is live vicariously through my nieces for girl stuff! :)
