Hello, I'm trying to plan something really fun and special for my twin boys who will be turning 5 in January!! It's so hard to predict the Texas weather so just not sure what to do besides boune houses/pizza & games places?? They want to do a horse ranch thing and I already know of Rocky Top in Keller for that, but like I said with this crazy weather it's so hard to plan for that?? Anyone have any other suggestions especially for a January b-day?

Thanks so much!!

What can I do next?

would you ever consider a clown at your house? my sis does this professionally and she is great with boys too (she has 3 of them, around the same age as your boys), she does balloon animals, face painting, has a pet rabbit and magic tricks and can dress less "girly" too. I just know going to birthday parties at bounce houses and such gets tiring after a while, and outside things are unpredictable in January in Texas

Dear E.,

I run a swim school in Southlake that offers inside, swim parties for children's birthdays. Emler Swim School at ###-###-####.

The water is heated to 90 degrees, so it's toasty warm and a different kind of party for kids born in January. The party in the pool is private and you also get a private room to open gifts, etc. We think it's lots of fun for all ages.

The only problem is, parties at Emler are pretty popular in January, so you need to reserve your spot early.

Whatever you decide, I hope your twins have a great fifth birthday celebration!

E.,

Forget about an outside party in January! Ain't gonna happen. There is that new indoor Safari place in Southlake that is very cool! I think it's called Safari World, or Indoor Safari World. It's on Southlake Blvd. in the Kroger shopping plaza. Otherwise, perhaps a swim party (indoors, of course!) Or, maybe your local park and rec center would have something? Good luck!

My daughter has a January birthday. Some of the things we have done are gymnastics (Texas Tumblers), Build-a-Bear and swimming at the Keller Pointe. They have a great indoor pool with party area and helpers. The kids love it because it is a novel thing to do in the winter.

I totally understand about planning for a Jan. birthday...you NEVER know what the weather here will do. I've had 17 years of planning for Jan b-days and now I am starting again with my 9 mo. old. The things I always did for my oldest were things like skating parties, bowling, Main Event(very expensive), Fantastic Pizza is where my twin nephews had theirs (and we had a blast!), there is a large arcade in N.E. Mall and another inexpensive idea is McDonald's. We had several parties when my daughter was around your boy's ages and we just went to my BFF's daughter's party there last weekend. All the kids had a blast and they handle everything and you don't have to clean up anything which is always nice. I think a lot of people no longer have parties at McDonald's because not very many locations have them anymore. The one my friend did it at was the McDonald's in Watauga on Denton Hwy. Hope this helps!

A Sno-Mania Party! They get to build sno-men and most importantly for boys, have a sno-ball fight!

We do allow rescheduling for weather. Although it doesnt tend to be too rainy in January.
