My husband is turning 30 in June. He loves to rock climb, mountain bike and watch movies. I would like to make his birthday special this year...but I can not come up with any ideas for a fun birthday celebration.

He is very much an introvert. I had planned a big surprise party for his 28th birthday ..but the morning of his birthday he said... I really hope you didn't plan on getting together with lots of people.. I just want to hang out at home with you and the kids... so after some hasty calls the party was cancelled...

Please help

if you are looking for something in-town i would suggest Malibu speedzone (go-karts and games for adults and kids) and Zero Gravity which is right next door. Zero Gravity offers bungee jumping, free-fall, and sky coasters. We did both for my husband's 30th and he said he felt like a kid - we had so much fun! Here are the websites:

I agree with others that an outing or shared experience would be fun. Maybe even just the two of you. I have heard that the new Main Event in Frisco has a rope course that is suspended in the air. It looks really cool and I want to go! If you are up for an out of town trip, there is a place south of Austin that does zip line tours. My husband I went there for our anniversary. It was so fun! You could make a Hill Country weekend of it: http://www.cypressvalleycanopytours.com/.

Oh there is a mom owned business who offers something that I think would be great for your husband!

I did some googling to find her info for you:
www.AdventureTeamKids.com

They have family weekend campouts and other family events. Its neat because they do activites, so its not just being out and trying to figure out fun on your own!

I think it would really scratch his outdoors itch and it would be your family, so he doesnt have to interact with friends (my hubby has the same personality!).

My other suggestion would be Six Flags or Great Wolf Lodge, its getting out and having fun and our whole family loves to hang out and laugh together.

GL!

It sounds like he has told you already what he'd like. You might try calling a couple of his rock climbing, mountain biking friends and their significant others and go to a trail for a picnic party or something.

The key word was lots - and my husband would usually rather be shot than be in front of lots of people.

If your husband likes adventure, check out cloud9living.com. Some of the adventures are a little pricey, but they have a lot to choose from for just him, or for you both. My husband loves adventure, and always wanted to learn to fly, so I got him a 1 hour flying lesson through cloud9. He is impossible to shop for, but he said it was the best gift he had ever gotten.
Hope this helps! Good Luck.

This would be a cool idea ... If there was a way to verify what movies were being filmed in the Dallas/North/East texas area, maybe you could arrange a time for your husband to be on the set to watch the filming!

Set up a family birthday party in the back yard... grill some steaks, roast marshmellows/hot dogs... take photos of the event... maybe pitch a tent and camp out in the back yard. Have the children make cards.

Good luck.

Why not a family weekend in austin where you could hike and enjoy the trails and the weather woudl be great for spring. There are great caves and springs. Plus, you can camp or cabin for cheap.

I was just looking for a fun day trip for my family to take during Spring Break. I was looking at Fossil Rim Wildlife park in Glenrose. They have Mountain Bike tours that sounded like something your husband would enjoy. You could plan a day or two (they have lodging) for the family and you could look into one of their mountain bike tours.

I hope you find something fun, but it sounds like I would keep it small and simple.

My husband is turning 30 as well. And sounds like your hubby. My plan is to take him sky diving and making it a surprise. I of course will not but I am going to bring one of his brothers....hope it helps.

I surprised my husband a couple of years ago with skydiving! He and I both did it, and it was a lot of fun.

My friend is in the same situation, her husband turns 30 tomorrow. She is suprising him with a quick 2 day trip to Shreveport. She got a really good deal on a room during the week. Hope you get some good ideas.

Do what he likes to do. If he wouldn't like a party, don't have one. Stay in his comfort zone -- it is his party!

I would suggest an "experience." Your husband sounds like an outdoor-adventuresome type. Depending on your budget, you could do something as simple as having a hike and picnic lunch with the family, to a family campout, to an "adventure encounter" for him. Before kids :) I did this a couple of times for my husband: a sky dive, a Texas Motor Speedway half day clinic (where they learn to drive a race car around the track), an hour in a flight simulator. My husband still talks about those gifts and it's been 10-15 years! Make sure you get a photo of whatever you do to remember his special day.
