Hello ladies,

I will be celebrating my Bday on next Friday. I am looking to spend the weekend at a hotel that overlooks the ocean. I want a room with a oceanview and balcony and does not cost an arm and a leg. I don't want a roach motel either. Any help or suggestions would be great.

What can I do next?

If you want to stay here in Ft. Lauderdale, look at The Pelican Grand Beach Resort - their website: www.PelicanBeach.com - It is a new hotel but has an Old Florida Victorian theme - beautiful! They have hotel rooms and suites that are ocean front. They also have a beautiful pool w/a lazy river. Their prices are very reasonable!
Have a wonderful time & Happy Birthday!

There is an awesome place in Cocoa Beach called "The Inn at Cocoa Beach". It is sort of like a bed and breakfast but a little bit more private. Their prices are very reasonable! They have different types of rooms that are ocean front and they are all terrific. On the balconies they have old time rocking chairs so you can relax and they also have a nice pool and pretty garden that has a hammock in it. I am telling you that you will love it. It is also very close and in most cases within walking distance to restuarants, shops Ron Jon's etc. They have a website that is www.theinnatcocoabeach.com and the number for reservations is 800-343-5307. I hope this helps. Have a great birthday.

Check out going to Cape Canaverel. There is a couple of hotels there that are right on the water and are not that expensive. There are a couple of places in Fort lauderdale that are what you are talking about, too. Go to booking buddy.com to check out hotels and put in what you are looking for. They have a lot of sites that will find you something nice, but make sure to read the reviews first because some places sound and look really nice on the computer, but are definately nothing but scummy hotels.

Try The Resort on Singer Island it is a Luxury Collection Resort managed by Starwood Hotels and Resorts.
It's the best time to book since hotels have not entered their busy season as well with the economy and all.

If you're willing to take the long drive out to Sanibel Island, it's sooooo worth it!! You'll have to do a little research to find something that fits your budget, but pretty much every thing on the island is ON the beach and overlooks it. Tourism isn't doing that well this year, so look on line and find something that's ALMOST in your budget and call and tell them you're a single mom and you want a mini vacation for you and your child on a budget and see if they can give you a better rate. The whole island is like a small town- everyone at every shop, hotel, and restaurant are super friendly and will help you find fun things to do-- or of course you can just hang at the beach and pool

Hey T.,

I took my little boy to Daytona this past summer with one of my girl friends for a quick get away. We stayed at Tropical Winds Oceanfront Hotel. You have to book an oceanfront room to get the full deal. We booked through Cheap Tickets for the best price and it was about $99 a night with a balcony overlooking the ocean and the pool. Just in case it rains or is too cool for outdoor swimming there's a heated pool inside. The staff is very nice. You can pull up the hotel on the internet for a closer inspection. We were very pleased and thorougly enjoyed our stay.
