Hey Moms~

Just was wondering if you have any ideas about having a Birthday party with the Halloween theme. My stepdaughter is having her birthday party on Nov 8 and she is having a sleepover with about 5 girls and they are coming here dressed. WE are also having the family party that evening too as we only get her every other weekend. Any ideas on activities?

I plan on going the day after halloween to get them 50% off...

Thanks

What can I do next?

How fun! Make sure you pick up the new Taste of Home October edition because it has so many wonderful, ghoulish recipes. My daughter is having a sleepover on Halloween. Halloween is, traditionally, a one-pot meal. We've made beef stew and this year it will be chili and some side fixings. We are going to make caramel apple dip and heat some caramel up too. Since it is a sleep-over, all the girls really want to do is watch a scary movie. We won't do any games for this party but I have a great list for a scavenger hunt that we have played in the past. If you want it just personal message me. Also, you can do a small bonfire and, not sure the age of the child but, you can always do a craft or make your own small pizzas or a spa-type party (i.e. finger nail painting, hair styling, fashion show, make smoothies, karaoke, etc.....) Hope these ideas help! Good luck!

My son's bday is 10/29 we combine the party every year and he loves it. There are a couple of things we always do--pin the stem on the pumpkin (homemade) and bobbing for apples. We put carmel on the apples and decorate with marsh mellows, candy corn and other Halloween decor before the carmel dries--can be messy but fun for them.

Also, you can play a game where you blindfold their eyes and have them put their hands in cold, cooked spaghetti and guess what it is. They can guess what cold grapes are in a bowl too... They may get kind of funny, grossed out

Enjoy your party

I would definately do a costume contest & have some small prizes & definately bobbing for apples & they have some great recipes for goulish punch which would be a big kick & I have seen mini-pumpkins used for soups or appetizers &* of course all the great decorating you can do just with things from the outside & you can do a treasure hunt. Halloween geared in the yard or front yard or neighborhood. There are so many possibilities & of course urge family memeber to dress up! Have a great time!!!

MLH,
Congratulations on doing a fun party without all of the formality parties have taken on. You didn't mention how old the girls are but one thing they like is decorating coolies with Halloween colors. Make cookies with the sugar cookie dough already made and then color white icing from the can and let them dorate the cookies. Maybe each girl could make a plate of cookies for her family.

Something else fun is to take play dough and use hors d'oeuvres cookie cutters and make small play cookies. Kids love the bright colors and making designs on the top of the small cookies.

Good luck with what you do and have fun! She is lucky to have you as a stepmom!

we just had a birthday/halloween party with for my 8 year old yesterday the games we played was take 4 halloween pictures like a ghost, witch, mummy and a pumpkin put each picture on a wall or corner. Then print out Little pictures of the same things a couple of each put them in a bowl and have the kids walk around the room play music when the music stops they go to one of the pictures. Pull out a picture of the bowl what ever picture you pull out those kids at that picture has to stay out. until game is over then continue until there is only one or two kids left. These kids had a blast with it. Good luck and hope you have a great party

My daughter (she's 9-1/2) just came home yesterday from what she said was the best party ever. They made carmel apples w/M&Ms on the outside and made bats out of real pumpkins (painted pumpkins black, painted eyes, added foam wings to the sides).

How about a magician, dressed up in a clown outfit.
She is Granny Grace and children love her magic and her fun. AND>>>>> she would come dressed as a clown.

Check her out at: www.grannygracecares.com

Let her know that D. V referred you. ( I did some alterations on her costume and she is a really neat person)
