Hi, mamas! I'm looking for a very inexpensive birth photographer for my 3rd son's birth. I didn't have the first 2 photographed, but I'm giving birth in a birth center in Grand Prairie this time and would love to have it on camera!!! However, my husband is in school and we can't pay much of anything. Could you recommend someone? It'd be great if you had the price info. as well. I don't know if this is even do-able, since using photographers is usually a costly thing. BUT just thought I'd ask:) I don't even mind if one of you want to volunteer your services!! (I just need someone who can take good pictures, possibly videotape some, stay focused and on top of things, and not mind being at my baby's birth!...and being seen but not heard!! haha) I appreciate anything you all have to offer. Thanks!!! (I know this kind of seems like something I would ask family/friends to do, but I don't have any family in town, and I honestly think I'd feel more comfortable if I didn't know the person photographing and might never see them again.....know what I mean?)

What can I do next?

Give Kindra a call - ###-###-#### - http://www.myspace.com/mnmsphotography

She just did my maternity photos (some on her website) and we LOVED them!!!!

She came to our house and only charged $50 for her time inside and $50 for outside shots...we took about 400 - too cheap if you ask me...then she sends a disc with all the photos...

We deliver next week...I'll definitely call her for the baby photos I want after Jayden is here.

Good luck!

Does your birthing center have any restrictions regarding photographing the birth? You might want to check that as there are sometimes legal restrictions around this.

Lynsey Stone is *great* but pretty pricey. I would also recommend Chantel Hayes, or Elizabeth Boyce (earthmamaphotography.blogspot.com).

B4 photography is great! She has a website www.b4photography.com and a myspace if you want to look her up. I copied this from her website:

BIRTH PHOTOS & NEWBORN PHOTOS

DUE THE DAY OF THE BIRTH
Scheduled induction or Cesarean---$500
Unscheduled birth (you can call me anytime of the day or night and I drop everything to come when you say to show up)---$600 I block off a couple of days surrounding your due date and stay in close contact to try to "predict" when the baby may come so that I (hopefully) do not have to cancel a regular session.
I come to the hospital, home, or birth center and document the entire day (up to 2 hours before birth and staying up to 2-3 hours after birth). I will document as much or as little of the birthing experience as you wish. I do not cross that "threshold"--during actual pushing and crowning (unless you desire those photos), I position myself at the mother's head or another location where she feels most comfortable. I will capture the exciting moments leading up to the birth--the love and support of those around you---the joy and relief in the first few moments of meeting your new family member--as well as the newborn exam and first feeding.
Unlike other birth photographers in the area, I include a newborn session with my birth session package. I will come to your home (or you can come to my studio) and do a complete newborn session with you and your family. I recommend doing them in the first few days after birth--we get nice pliable, sleepy babies and there is usually not an issue of baby acne in the first week or two.
I also offer a referral program--if you send me your friends and family, then you will get discounts off of your next session or free prints from your previous session. I am proud that my business has grown based on word of mouth from happy customers!
Please give her my name-S. Winters if you decide to go with her!

Have you already checked out Lynsey Stone at www.dfwbirthphotographer.com? She's fabulous. You might also want to check out Christan at Christan Lane photography http://profile.myspace.com/index.cfm?fuseaction=user.view.... She had a homebirth with me earlier this year, so she's familiar with the out of hospital birth scene! I believe that a doula name Chantel Hayes also does birth photography. http://oneearthymama.blogspot.com/
