Has anyone had any experience with the Nuva Ring? I am supposed to be starting on it soon, and I really do not know a lot about it. My dr. said it was the best choice for me. I was just wondering if anyone is using it, or know anyone that uses it and what your/their experiences have been. Thanks.

What can I do next?

Hi K.!
I was suprised to see some many negative responses to the ring... I've had great luck withit so far! It has been almost a year. You cannot feel it and you can do anything with it inside and not have to worry. I like it very much and have reccommended it to several friends who have thanked me up and down... it is a great product for those of us who haven't had the best luck with the pill. Best of luck!

I only used it for a couple of months. I guess I wasn't a lucky one it was the worst 2 months ever. I was always moody and depressed. I didn't ever feel like doing anything. Finally my family told me to stop using it to see what happens and it was the ring. I felt better in a week I was back to my old self again. I have had friends experiance the same thing. Also it can be uncomfortable to you partner while your you know. Some people have told me there partners have actually pulled it out so I"m not really sure how great it really is if it can come out like that. I hope you have better luck with it.

K.,
I am currently using it, have been for over two years now. I love it!! My monthly cycle is great also, one day per month and light. And this is just a bonus to not having to remember a pill each day. The worry is gone, just circle one date on calender and done. I usually get 2 months worth at a time at the pharmacy. My daughter is on the patch and will be changing. I personally have had no side effects.
Good luck.

I used this years ago and loved it. I am not very good at remembering to take a pill everyday! You do not feel it once it is in, my husband usually did not feel it either, even if he did, it was not uncomfortable! I just found it to be too expensive- my isurance did not like paying for it. I hope you like it as much as I did.

i have had experience with the ring. I was on it for only a few months and i had to stop using it. I have tried, the pill, the patch and the ring. i can not take anything. It all made me sick to my stomach and having headaches. but as for the ring being comfortable yes it was, i couldnt even tell that it was there. so depending on your body i would reccomend the ring.

hi K.,
I used the Nuvo-ring for a while without any incident really. Then when my prescription ran out and i didn't have it for a month or two i realized how much it had been affecting my life. I was terribly cranky and angry, I never wanted to have sex...ever. I thought I was just being hormonal, or whatever. then when I took the ring out and got back to normal i was my old self again. The doc and I concluded that I just dont so well with hormones, so now i have the 10 yr non-hormonal IUD and I love it. Besides being sensitive to the hormones though I never really had any problems with the ring. It never came out or anything, but I did notice that I was very dry (sometimes painfully so) but I think they tell you that that can be a side effect. I hope you find what you need. On a personal note thought I highly recommend an IUD. hormonal or not, talk about peace of mind. I read in the information that I received about mine that the failure rate for an IUD is the same as that of tubal ligation! Good luck to you

I used it for almost a year and LOVED it. I never had any problems with it coming out and I had 3 kids. The only time it ever fell out was when I had sex and even withthat it only came out twice. It was so easy. I wouldn't recommend the depo shot it cause spoting for 6 months for me and I also tried and iud and ended up with a bad infection because of it. Good luck all I can say is try it everyone is different! Good luck

I used NuvaRing last year, and I liked it a lot. If you don't want to try Depo, this is the next best thing -- no pills everyday! The hormones are the same as the pill, so if you did okay with pills, you should do fine on the ring.

I use the Nuvaring and I love it! I have been using it for about a year now and have had no problems. Once you put it in you don't have to worry about it anymore for 3 weeks. With my insurance I get it for $30 a month and it's well worth not having to worry about it the rest of the month. Good luck!

i LOVED this!!!!!!!!

it is so much easier than having to remember a pill everyday!

the putting it in and taking it out part isn't that great, but it is well worth it!

i have real heavy periods, using super plus tampons and i usually bleed for a full 7 days plus. with the nuvaring, i could wear regular tampons and only really bled for about 3 days. no cramps NOTHING!!! it was wonderful!

i wish they would have invented this YEARS ago!

I tried the ring and didn't like it. Felt like it was going to come out and made me nervous. I just recently decided to use Mirena. In talking with my Dr. he thought that was my best choice. I was nervous at first, but after talking with another Dr. in the office (female) and hearing that if this was something that she needed, she would do it, it helped put my mind at ease. It was a simple procedure and not at all what I expected. The one side effect that I am not happy with is the spotting and she said just wait it out. The spotting is light and not bad. I am the most excited about not having to worry about taking a pill, changing a patch, or having a needle stuck in my arm every so often. You can go online and read information on this. The main thing for me since I have an 8 months old daughter and still dealing with losing the weight that I put on, is that this doesn't cause the weight gain that the shot does. I sure don't need that. Good Luck with whatever you decide. Also, be sure to check with you insurance. Some will pay the cost cause this is kind of expensive, but for a birth control that last 5 years, it's worth it! And you probably find that in the long run cheaper!

Hi K., I've been using NuvaRing since last June and have been very pleased. After being on the pill for a couple of cycles, I was a little crazy and had depressed libido. For me, at least, both of those side effects are greatly decreased with the ring. The only minor complaint I have is that some months I start bleeding before removing the ring (supposedly b/c my hormone levels are stronger than the ring's at the end). It's great not to have to remember to take the pill every day, and I don't feel it all. If it's any additional promo for it, I have a friend who is an OB/GYN, and she also uses NuvaRing. But, as with any synthetic hormone, it's a medication, and everyone's body responds a little differently. Best of luck, N. M

HI K.- I tried the nuvaring when it first came out- (I personally can't take BC-tried the patch as well- both made me hemmorahge)- but as far as easy of use and not having to worry about taking a pill daily it was a great concept- the ring- you will have it in for- I think 3 weeks and remove it for a week so that you can have your period, then insert a new one for another 3 weeks. It also had no effect on ky sex life- as in feeling it or anything. If you are comfotable with insering it yourself and removing it as well, you should be ok. The Doc inserted mine the first time and gave me a run down on it. It had little side effects other than my personal issue of not being able to handle BC. Good luck - hope I helped a little- you can also look it up online and see what others say...A.

I have been on the Nuva Ring for about a year now, after having difficulty with many other birth controls. I haven't had any problems with the Nuva Ring, and have found it easy and convinent to use. The only thing that bothered me at first is that the ring does sometimes come out during intercourse. However, I was assured that it was okay when this happens. You just rinse the ring off in cool water and put it back in. I like it, and it has worked the best for me.

I used Nuva Ring for about a week. I couldn't deal with it any longer. Everytime I went to the bathroom(ya know) i was always worried about it coming out. (it did sometimes) When my partner and I had sex it just seemed to be one more problem and had to take it out, and afterwards put it back in. For me it just felt like I was always worrying. If you are not planning to have more children for awhile i would recommend the Depo shot. I loved it. One shot every 3 months. Depending how long you are on it, it can take awhile to get pregnant. I was on it for 21/2 years. I got off and started taking the pill and got my period back within 2months. It may be something to bring up to you Gyno.Just be careful when choosing birth control because insurance companies only cover certain methods.I hope this can help you. Good Luck!

I used the Nuva Ring for awhile. My partner could feel it and it would often move around; sometimes come out. I don't think it is truly made to fit every woman. Some women are smaller, or larger, inside than others. I wouldn't personally recommend it.

Hi K....I LOVE the nuvaring! It is so easy to use and it's nice to not have to worry about your birth control for 3 weeks. The pill always makes me depressed and moody, but I didn't experience that at all with the ring. My husband did not feel it during sex, either, so don't worry about that. I did have to stop taking it though, only because my insurance charged me $60/mo for it, since it's so new to the market. It just got too expensive. But, if it weren't for the $$, I'd still be using it...good luck!

Hi K.,
I tried the Nuva Ring and HATED it. It kept coming out, even the one the doctor had placed in at my Dr. visit. I tried it for the next month and the same thing happened. I switched to the Merina IUD. No pills, not sticky patch, and no ring to deal with. Nothing to forget to change or worry about. I have had it for 2 yrs. now and I love it. Just somethign for you to think about. That's my personal opinion on the Nuva Ring. I just plain hated it. Hope this helps. Good Luck!

The nuva Ring is awesome!!! You just insert it and forget it!! Well for three weeks. Some people have a phobia of inserting..they have to put their fingers in their vagina...they freak out. Its no big deal..its a little scary at first to get used to at first. But it is great. You insert just like a tampon..in fact if you have trouble you can remove a tampon from its applicator and put the Nuva Ring in the tampon applicator and insert to ensure proper placement. I always tell our patients that when you insert the ring, there is like a shelf inside the vagina..the ring should sit on that"shelf". Try it..you'll love it!!

I used it for a while and I loved it. You pop it in once and take it out 3 weeks later. It was great. It even comes with some little stickers so you can mark your calendar for those dates. You won't feel it or for that matter neither will he. It was truly the best B/C I have ever used. You won't have any of the same side effects as you would get from the pills. I hope it works as good for you as it did for me. Please let me know if you have any more questions.
