I am tired of being on bc pills, so I am trying the nuva ring in about a week. Has anyone had a good experience with this and were you still able to nurse your baby?
thx,
K.

What can I do next?

I was going to respond raving about the Mirena IUD but I see someone has already done that. But just so it isn't a random opion...I LOVE IT TOO. I have had mine in for 4 years now and I have nothing to complain about. I have tried several forms of birth control (but not the ring) and never had any luck because my hormones get pretty whacked out. I have NO strange symptoms. And I too, was VERY heavy for 7 days every month. And now, I am never sure when that time of the month is..yay! Anyhow, I highly recommend the Mirena IUD. If you have other questions, please feel free to email me, ____@____.com. However, a lot of mommy mags have full page adds on it.

Good luck with whatever you decide to do!!!
Nat

I don't know anything about the Nuva Ring, but I myself cannot take bc pills. Since having my son 7 years ago, any bc pill that I have tried makes me sick. My dr recommended the IUD. I have been on the Mirena IUD for about 6 years now. It is good for 5 years (I am on my 2nd one) & can be removed at any time if you decide that you want to have another baby before the 5 years are up. I love it....it is carefree...I don't have to worry about anything. Most women have a lighter cycle & 1 out of 3 women do not have a mensi at all (I am that 1 in 3). I do spot every few months, so it's not completey gone, but I used to be heavy, so for me this is wonderful. If I am not mistaken, there is no problem with nursing while on the IUD, but I'm not a 100% positive on that, so if you think it migh tbe an option for you, double check with your Dr.

Hi K.,

I absolutely LOVE the nuva ring. I, myself, am horrible about remembering to take my bc pills at the same time every day. I end up forgetting, and then having to take two in one day - repeatedly. The nuva ring is so great - you forget its even there! However, my OB won't let me back on that until I am finished nursing. I plan to get back on the nuva ring as soon as I am done - but until then - the dreadful bc pills for me. Good luck!

I have been on the ring for about 2 years now. I love it for the ease of not having to take the pill daily. My periods are VERY light now. The only negative draw back is that I have found it in the bed the next morning after being intimate with my husband! Big bummer, although this has only happened twice in two years~

You cannot breastfeed with while using the Nuva Ring. Your breast will dry up. You have two birth control options when you are nursing: mini pill or IUD. Used the mini pill after my first son was born. Taking pills hard because with the mini pill, you have to take it at the exact same day everyday. I just got the Mirena IUD 3 months ago after having my second son, still having some spotting so it's a bummer but the OB said that it should stop in a few months--its worth the wait for 5 years of protection. I also used the Nuva Ring for years before I had children and it's really the best option if you're not nursing and you plan on having another child soon.

Hi,
I am a mom of 10 month old ErynMadison, 2 year old twin boys JustinIsaac & Ryan Presley, and as well a 3 year old son ColeBrendyn...I have and am using the nuva ring! It is so easy, it is low hormone so that is good. No significant weight at all and no yeast infections or bladder infections...which are common for the pill, at least for me. You never will have to worry about remembering to take a pill every morning and I think you can nurse your baby..you should ask your gynecologist and they will tell you. I didn't use hormone birth control, only condoms when I was breastfeeding, cause I am overly cautious about that. I don't want the baby getting the hormones through the milk, but I believe it is okay according to other people. Good luck! Write me back if you want. I live in Orange County, CA and my name is B.

The mirena implant might be great idea for you. It is a very quick and easy procedure. It is just a tiny device your obgyn puts in and you are good to go for 5 years or until you are ready to have another child. And when you are ready to have another you can get pregnant immediatly unlike other birth control. I always got horrible migranes and other side affects from bc and the mirena has no side affects as well as it made me have little to no period. Also cheaper then paying for birth control every month. It worked great for me.
