I've been trying to find a birth control that works for me. My GYN gave me a sample of NuvaRing and told me that I should try it. I'm really not sure about it. To me it's just weird. I am looking for feedback from anyone out there that uses or have used the NuvaRing. Any information would be appreciated! Thanks in advance!!!

Hi H.!

I used it for a while, but didn't really like the side effects my body had to it. I have friends that swear by it though. One tip - I used a tampon aplicator to insert it!

I used it for 3 months (my gyn said it took that long for your body to acclimate) but my body never "acclimated". It threw me into early menopause with everything that accompanies it. No periods, hot and caold flashes, dry as a desert (6L of water/day and astroglide didn't even help much) mood swings like a manic depressive....i could go on. Within two mos of discontinuing use i was back to normal. plus there was noticeable uncomfortableness associated with intercourse. but apparently alot of ppl love it

I tried useing the Nuvoring and it was horrible. That thing is huge and it was causing tears inside me deep enough to bleed. It was so painful I was miserable for the 3-4 months I was on it and forget intercourse I was just in to much pain from the tears to even try.

I use the NuvaRing & i love it!! If you have problems remembering to take a pill everyday then you should really try this. At first it seems weird but after you try it you do not even notice that it is in and it is so easy to use!! Hope it works out for you!

I used the ring for almost a year and actually liked it. It seemed weird to me at first too, but once I got over the mental block it was very convient, the only draw back I found was it was kinda noticeable to my husband when we made love. It says if it slips out that as long as you put it back in within 3 hrs that it is still effective, so we just took it out during our time together and I put it back after. I never got pregnant doing this. We switched to the pill seasonal because I thought it was wonderful to only have a period every 3 months. I still use seasonal, but only for that reason. Good Luck!

I personally haven't tried it. And I probably won't until it's been on the market for a few more years. I personally don't trust new drugs. If you recall, a few years ago the patch was the newest crazy. It was easy, you could put it in areas on your body where no one could see it and you didn't have to take a pill everyday. And then a year/ year and a half later, there were big issues that were coming out! That's just me though.

I used the NuvaRing after I had my son. I loved it, it was easy. You put it in once a week. I did mine on Sunday's, so I won't foget. My husband thought that it was weird at first, but he said that he got used to it. I could feel it when I first started to use it also, but then I soon forgot that it was there.

i have been using the nuvaring since march, and i have no complaints about it. i'm like you, i was weirded out by it at first, but it's no big deal. my ob has me putting it in on the 1st of the month and out on the 25th, no matter how many days in the month. when i take it out, i usually don't start for a couple of days, and then once it goes back in, i only bleed for another day or so, for a total of 3-4 days bleeding, and it's extremely light when i do. i like that i only think about it once a month, and i don't notice it. i have noticed that before when i was using yasmin i had fewer pms related mood swings, but i also haven't used that since before i had my daughter, and i'm also in school and work, both full time-- so maybe that's why i'm moody :) i would just try it, and see what you think. good luck!

I was a bit skeptical about NuvaRing when my doctor mentioned it as an option, but after using it every month for nearly a year, I LOVE it! Putting it in and taking it out are not the most comfortable things in the world, but that only accounts for a minute or two twice a month. Not a bad trade.

I have always had hormonal and/or weight gain issues with every birth control pill that I have tried, but NuvaRing hasn't caused me any problems. Mind you, my husband can feel it sometimes, but it's not really a big deal for either of us.

Since NuvaRing is used on a monthly basis, it may be worth giving it a try. You may find that you like it, or you may find that you'd rather use a different method of birth control. It'll be easy to switch to something else if you choose to do so.

My advice- USE IT!! It is wonderful. I have been using it 15 months now and have no complaints!! My husband has none either. You know how busy it is with a little one at home, this is one thing you no longer have to worry about. You just put it in and forget it for 3 weeks. I have it marked on our calendar in the kitchen, just IN and OUT, so I don't forget how long it's been. No one even notices it marked on the calendar. I am 100% happy with it and if you try it, I hope you are too. You will not ever notice it or feel it except when you put it in and take it out. We have never had a problem during sex either. I was very worried about that, but my husband said he could not feel anything. I have a problem with migrains during my cycle too, and this has almost eliminated them. Just an added bonus for those who suffer. Good luck!!

I have not tried the NuvaRing so I cannot give you advice on that but I can tell you a different kind of birth control that I was on, which was the depo shot, it has a very long medical term name but the doc's will know what you are talking about when you say that. I did hear a lot of conflicting things about it but it worked great for me. One of the major things you will hear is that it will make you gain weight but if you watch your diet and with kids that's not hard (you get their leftovers) and if you exercise regularly thats not hard either and again kids give you PLENTY of exercise whether you have one or three there is plenty to do and Im sure you will be fine. After my 2nd was born I did try the IUD which is basically like a tube with a string attached that the doctor's put inside you and it is supposed to last 5 years, well I had a very very bad experience with that, almost a year of shooting pains down my right leg, and a trip to the ER. I do have friends that are on it with no problems so I do blame it on the doctor who put it in, maybe it was just positioned the wrong way but I really like the depo and of course there is getting your tubes tied or your husband getting fixed(as my husband did) but you only have one baby and you need to do a lot of growing with this first one before you decide to call it quits!

I hope I was a little bit of help at least and I do hope that you choose what is best for you!

i used the nuvaring for about a year & really didn't have any problems with it. I also thought it was kind of weird - a little icky actually, but it was pretty easy getting in & out. The only reason I stopped was that i forgot to refill it & since i couldn't get pregnant anyway, just never went back to get it refilled after that.
