I still haven't picked up my daughter's birth certificate yet due to financial issues, but I need to get it in order to enroll her in the head start program. Will I need to take her Social Security Card to the office or will it suffice if I just have her number and my photo id? Thanks!
I called the office this morning and confirmed that all I needed was my photo id. My kids and I went in and picked up the birth certificate for 15 bucks, a lot less than it would have been through michigan.gov
They didn't ask for my son's social security card when I got it my son's birth certificate...I don't even think there was a place to write his number on the form actually! I had to show my driver's license and the certificate I got from the hospital. I live in Michigan. I hope that helps. Here it cost $13 and $4 for every extra copy.
I guess my question is... How old is your daughter? You may want to call the SS office and find out what their procedure is...
Ask your Head Start Family worker to help you obtain the birth certificate. They usually have funds for that kind of thing:)

Yes, you have to pay for a copy of the birth certificate but here it is only $10. I only needed my ID and child's name and DOB. I got my kids asap...and it was way before their socials came in the mail. You should be fine with just taking her number...HTH!
