Hi moms,
I'm looking to buy a bike trailer/jogger stroller. I don't know much about it, but Im wondering if you can put an infant (in a car seat) in there?
I have a 2 1/2 yo and we'll be expecting our 2nd and last baby this xmas, and after 2-3 months of giving birth, I want to start using my bike and jogging. But Im wondering if you can carry an infant and a toddler in a double Bike trailer/jogger?

Thank you in advance
M.

So What Happened?

Thank you all for your responses. And sorry to be a bit ignorant, but I forgot about the helmet part. I have a friend that told she used her Trailer jogger and used it while biking as well, when her baby was only a couple of months old. That is why I had to come to this website and get some advice from you ladies.
Now I'm looking for a double jogger, know of a good one?

Hi M.,

I love to both bike and run but didn't want to have two separate items to store (bike trailer/jogger) so, I bought a Chariot stroller and it's wonderful. I bought it when my son was 18 months old and I was pregnant with my second. At about 3 months after giving birth I began running with both my kids in it. I ended up purchasing the infant insert for it, which worked out fine because my son was on the bigger side. Chariot also makes an infant hammock that I believe you can put a baby in even younger. The only downfall is that the inserts are pricey and you don't use them for very long, by 6-7 months my son was just riding in the regular seat...so look on craig's list for a used one.

For biking, I waited until my son was 1 year and could wear a helmet, that's what is recommended. My stroller still got plenty of use with running.

It's been a long time since we bought ours but no, I don't think anyone has designed one for infant use. There are plenty of jogging strollers that can accommodate an infant with the right insert but for biking? No - the kids in the trailer should be wearing helmets and you can't put a helmet on a newborn. Bikes move much faster than your feet do and it's too dangerous for a young baby to be moving at that speed behind a bike.

NO!!! The recommendations are there for a reason. It's dangerous. Please don't do this.

We also have a chariot, which in addition to Burley, are the best and most safest bike trailers on the market. With the chariot, you buy either a single ir double "chassis" and then add the type of components you want, such as a stroller kit, bike trailer kit, jogging kit, etc. they even have a criss country ski and a hiking kit. You can buy an infant insert to hold the baby, but as the previous responder mentioned, you should not pull the infant in the bike trailer kit until they are one year old and can wear a bike helmet. Prior to age one, infants necks are not strong enough to hold up the weight of a bike helmet. The only downfall to the chariot models is that they are very pricy. The chassis alone is typically around $500 and each kit can be $75 or more. Best of luck with your choice. Happy biking and jogging!

We got 2 bike seats for when the baby is a little older (the bike seats sit in front of you) and a pull behind/or jogger for my bike and eathier both in back or 1 in back and 1 on the bike so I can grocery shop. WERiders.com I think. Good luck

Unless something new and fancy has come out, a bike trailer will not hold an infant. I don't think they are recommended for use until after the age of one. And our model is great for biking, but terrible for jogging, the bottom drags unless you hold it just so. For a young baby, you may be better off with a regular jogging stroller.
