Looking at a possible move to the Phoenix area and was wondering if anyone had any insight on the best area to live in out there. We would definitely be looking at things like good schools, low crime, pretty neighborhoods, family friendly..... Thanks!!

Chandler or Gilbert. Great schools, awesome community programs. I have lived in this area for 10 years and love it!

NW Peoria, arrowhead area is great too. Peoria school district which is great. Although I cannot wait to get out of Phoenix, I live in a good section of it.

The thing about Phoenix and the rest of the cities in the valley is that there are great neighborhoods in each of them, but there are also not so great areas in each, sometimes within a mile of one another. I highly recommend coming for a weekend and just checking out different areas of the valley and see what you like where you can afford a home. The great part is that every city is so diverse, homes are available in a large range of prices. Good luck!

My "Bonus Mom" lives in Glendale and I love visiting her because I love the area,it's so pretty but I could never actually live there. One hundred plus degrees (even at midnight sometimes) isn't my idea of a good time.

Glendale and Surprise are in the West Valley (west of Phx) and Gilbert and Chandler are in the East Valley (east of Phx). When we moved here from CA in 2003, I noticed a lot of crime, more so, in the West Valley than in the EV. We moved to Gilbert and have been very happy here. Its one of the highest rated school districts and real estate is still pretty decent. Meaning although the houses have lost some value, they are still the "high rent" district. I'm an insurance agent in Gilbert, but can help you anywhere in AZ so hold on to my info for when you move out here (AZ is second highest in auto insurance rates after NY) and my good friend, Jeff Tompkins is one of the best realtors around. His number is ###-###-####. His email is ____@____.com. (Tell him F. the insurance agent sent you!) My phone is ###-###-#### and website is http/www.AgentLady.com Let us know if we can help you!!!

We live in Surprise, AZ it is about 10 miles from Phx. Az. I love Surprise, It has great schools, low crime and reasonable houseing. The only down side is it can be hard to get in and out of. There are only a few roads that go into and out of Surprise so during rush hour it can be tough. I think it is well worth it. We plan on never moving from here.
Good luck AZ is beautiful.
