Best Quality Plush Animals

Good morning! So we are expecting #2 in February. One thing that my older son has always treasured is a stuffed giraffe (he is 9 and still loves "Giraffee" - don't tell anyone!) that he was given at my baby shower, and I wanted to get a plush elephant for new baby brother. (No guarantees he will love it as well as big brother loves his, I don't care lol.) The problem is I'm shopping online and I can't figure out what the best brand would be. The tag on my son's says Animal Planet but I'm not having much luck looking for that brand (it has been 10 years since it was bought so no shock there). I found one by Gund which I seem to remember being a good quality brand, but it's only 9 inches tall, and I was looking for something more in the 15 inches range. Something sturdy and soft for cuddling. Any ideas? Or at least any brands that hold up, so I can widen my search?

Thanks in advance!

What can I do next?

Oh gosh - I sure miss Ty Pillow Pals!
You can still get some - they really are GREAT - totally washable - soft and cuddly.
Get duplicates if you can!
We have several of Purr the Kitten (it's a cute tiger) and our son just loved them so!

Not sure if they have elephants, but toys by Manhattan Toy have held up well (not an expensive brand and not sure if they are still around. We have toys from them ranging from about 5 inches to nearly 14 inches. No elephants, though.

The best plush toys we have are by Ditz and are all extremely cuddlesome bears; I think Ditz specializes in just a few animals, so not sure about your desired elephant, but the quality is excellent.

If your older son could get into doing some plush puppetry for baby brother....The company Folkmanis Puppets makes wonderful puppets that actually are pretty much full-on plush toys as well. We have several and love them, and they do hold up well to lots of play by both kids and, I admit it, adults! Barnes and Noble bookstores and some other shops sell Folkmanis Puppets and they're also online.

As you're searching be sure that the toys are more than sturdy--remember to get ones appropriate for a newborn/infant/toddler as regards choking hazards etc. The puppets, for instance, may not be age-appropriate in terms of choking hazard (might be age 3+). If you see great ones for a few years down the line go ahead and get them and save them for when they're more appropriate--you won't regret it.
