Best Milk Alternative?

I'm trying to get myself off of milk, but I'm having a hard time finding an alternative that I like. So far I've tried:
Rice Dream - Original
Blue Diamond Almond Milk - Original
Silk Organic Soy Milk - Unsweetened

The thick consistency is part of my problem, but so is how sweet some of these products are, even though I'm buying the original, not Vanilla versions. I'd love to hear what other people are using and liking. Is there anything that is even remotely close to real milk?
Thank you!

If you are getting off milk because you are lactose intolerant, you can buy lactose milk - that is what I did. However, if you are getting off milk b/c you don't want to drink cow milk anymore (I am starting to do this), I prefer the original flavor almond milk (there are always coupons for almond milk). I really like oat milk and hazelnut milk, but it is very expensive.

If you are just getting off of cows milk try goats milk, most people who have a hard time with cows milk have a very easy time with goats milk. I have seen a lot of post about Soy & they are correct it is very bad for you.

Don't drink soy. It has a ton of free estrogen in it and it is very bad for females.

I was an avid milk drinker and just went off it cold turkey. After 3 weeks I didn't crave it or want it at all anymore, now a nice glass of coconut milk really hits the spot!

I've been off milk over 2 years now. I love milk and never thought I could live without it, but I'm allergic. My doctor told me that cow's milk is designed to make baby cows gain 850 lbs in 6 months. That did it for me! No more milk.

I use different products for different things. I like rice milk for cereal and for cooking, coconut milk for tea, and coconut cream for recipes that require heavy cream or whipping cream. Rice milk is thinner like non-fat milk, the So Delicious Coconut Milk is a little thicker but slightly sweet, and the coconut milk in the cans is thicker (scoop the cream from the top of the can for making whipped cream).

The Coconut Bliss and Purely Decadent ice creams are so incredibly yummy and are dairy free. If you are only avoiding cow's milk, goat cheese and sheep cheese are very good. Goat milk yogurt and coconut milk yogurt are also good.

If you are drinking the milk straight, make sure it's icy cold and shake it very well before pouring. You just kinda gotta experiment until you find one you like. Sometimes it takes quite a few tries before you get accustomed to the new taste. Just know that it's not real milk, so it doesn't taste like real milk, but it's also not designed for baby cows. ;) You will find something that you like!

Why are you trying to get yourself off of milk ? The right source of milk is actually good for you - but you need to know which one that is, and which you need to steer clear of.

Soy milk is so bad for your health - I know you don't see that in the media, they want to portray soy milk as a much healthier alternative - so wrong !!!! I am going to put some articles here for you to read, I would never drink that or ever give my kids soy. The Only soy products that are safe are of the fermented variety, otherwise pass on that.

Raw milk is the best milk by far. The milk you get straight from the cow - no pasteurization - and from cows that have not been injected with growth hormones and antibiotics. Read below and make an Informed decision.

Try half coconut milk (from a carton in the cold section, not from a can) and half rice milk. Both plain/unsweetened. My MIL is a total milk junkie and very picky and doesn't like coconut - but liked that concoction and thought it was very similar to milk, go figure.

Coconut milk is very good for you, BTW.

Good luck!

Goat milk. Fresh and cold it tastes nearly the same and has no allergins as cows milk does. I milked goats for many years so my children would grow up asthma and eczema free. It worked. They also had three cavities between them from infancy to college age. One daughter never has had a cavity.
That should tell you something about cows milk the farmers do not want you to know.

No milk at all? There are a lot of foods you can eat to make up for the nutrients in milk.

Why not buy regular organic milk or goats milk and just use it very sparingly? Is there a reason you aren't wanting to drink milk - albeit it's not exactly a great food anyways.

I use organic milks and only for cereal and the few recipes that require it.

You know, i'm trying the same thing. But i don't have to be hardcore, so i'm not really trying to REPLACE it. I started drinking my coffee black, and i eat oatmeal or something instead of dry cereal that really wants milk in it.

Along with goat's milk, cheese and butter often are okay for people who don't do well with tall glass of milk. (I still eat those.)

I also am trying to be aware of my consumption in a day - if dinner has dairy in it i'll be sure to skip anything else with dairy in it later.

Don't know if it will work for you, but i find a lot of things are easier if i take this approach than trying to come up with a replacement for all dairy in my diet.
