Best Mattress Store - $ for Value (Fort Worth)

Our mattress is WAY past it's prime, but I hate the fact that there are "payment plan's" because mattresses can be so expensive.

In Fort Worth, where would you recommend to go to get a mattress, and what good quality brand isn't multiple month's rent, cost wise? ;)

Thanks!

ETA2: Starr, I am sorry you don't like your Sleep Number. You are the first person I've heard say that. Did you tell the company that you didn't like it? You have 90 days or so to determine if you like it and then you get a full refund if you just hate it. We LOVE ours, we just wish we had purchased some of the other options we now believe we would like to have. We can always go back and add on which is good but to have the option of it lifting, we need a different base. My dentist had one for over 12 years and just bought everything new except the base and still spent over $5000. Nothing was wrong with the base, they just wanted an upgrade after 12 years.

There is something to be said for some of the products in cheap places... You never know if you might get a gem at Big Lots!!

ETA: my post might look odd because I tested to see if it would post before I finished my response.

It all depends on your budget, etc.

We bought my daughter's pillow top mattress that she LOVES from Mattress Firm in Plano about 4 years or so ago. She is happy with the mattress overall but it has started sagging a bit in the middle where she sleeps. To remedy that, she got online and put a firm pillow under the spot where she sleeps and you can't see any sag. We spent about $1000 on her mattress, including a special mattress pad and a couple of extras.

Last year, hubby and I FINALLY purchased our bed from Sleep Number. I am not kidding, our sleep issues have pretty much gone away. No more waking with back, neck or any pain anywhere. We LOVE this bed and it is SO worth it to us.

However, it is pretty costly, I think the model we got was around $5000 and it was not the highest end which was one similar to Tempurpedic but I am not fond of the Tempurpedic type mattress. We did not get the cooling device or the availability to have the bed rise up. We do regret not going ahead and spending the extra money which would have been another $3000-$4000. We got a good bed and if we decide to upgrade it with the special cooling feature and rising feature, we'll probably just sell this one we have had for 1 year or put it in one of our guest rooms.

I say buy the best you can afford. In the long run, if you upgrade later, you can use that mattress in another room. I believe it is great that you are budgeting. In NO way should you finance something like this. It is crazy how people fall for that game.

I know Mattress Firm locations are all over the DFW metroplex

Here in Houston we have Mattress Firm, Mattress Giant, all the furniture stores, etc. The selection varies but the bottom line for us has been to set a budget. We have x dollars to spend and that's it. We save and pay in cash. The last two mattresses came from Mattress Firm and we are satisfied with them. I will say spend the time shopping. We took pillows and no kids. We laid down on the mattresses for about ten minutes each and laid like we normally sleep. You feel ridiculous but it has served us well. All in the mattress shopping took about half the day. Good luck.

latex, latex, latex! We bought one a few years back and it's one of the best investments we ever made. It was a bit expensive but it is all natural and organic (no chemicals at all), and will last 30 years. We see no wear on it at all.

We did a ton of research when we bought, and the website mattressunderground has some great info. Also can be specific to your area. Good luck!

I can't speak to your area, and I bet there are lots of people who would disagree with me, but we have a Sleep Number bed and HATE IT! We have had it for quite awhile now - I never liked it. From day 1. No matter how I adjusted it. My husband initially loved it - but I think it was more "I have to love it because it cost so much money so da*n it, I am going to love it." I have been begging since we bought it to get a different bed and he is finally admitting that maybe this was not the bed for us.

Moral of the story? Expensive does not mean better for sure :) We are going to start looking at mattresses when finances allow and we have agreed that another Sleep Number is out of the question and are considering "traditional mattresses".

Good luck!

I have unsucessfully spent a lot of money on our last two mattresses, and I still haven't achieved the comfort I desire.

The most comfortable bed I've ever slept on was a cheap, hard mattress (which avoids sagging issues mentioned below) topped with a separate 2" memory foam topper. That's what I'm doing next time.

Ft Worth specifics? No clue.

Too bad you don't have Original Mattress Factory there.

Look at the Casper online mattresses.
People love them.

Honestly, what WE'VE done is decided how much we wanted to spend and gone & shopped, looked for sales, etc.
All major mattress manufacturers make super cheap models and most stores carry variations within a brand, so it's REALLY hard co "comparison shop" mattresses.

Best thing is to choose firmness based on sleep positions, pillow top or not & go try to get the most from your (predetermined) buck.
I had a nightmare with the last mattress we bought, but the manufacturer honored the warranty (after I had to take & email a kazillion pictures!).
Sometimes I think we should have just grabbed an el Cheapo from Big Lots!
I got a GREAT deal on a 4" topper and we love the new mattress- but I think it's the topper!

I've tried sleep number beds in some hotels - they just are not for me.
What I like (it's what my Mom has) is a latex foam (NOT MEMORY foam) mattress.
It's expensive BUT they last - I'm not kidding - like 25 to 30 YEARS!
My Mom's is over 40 years and it's like it was new - and extremely comfortable.
Considering some places are saying you need to replace a mattress every 7 years - spending more up front might save you in the long run.

I live in Watauga and we bought a Restonic mattress at a furniture store. Yes, it's costly, about $2,500-$3,000, but worth every penny! It is literally heaven on earth! It comes with a power base that costs a small fortune but, we didn't get that. A good nights sleep is a wonderful thing. Skip the sleep number beds - IMO.
