Hi Moms! I finally get a date night with my husband this week. I am looking for a great Italian restaurant somewhere in the San Fernando Valley. We currently live between Northridge and Burbank, but would drive elsewhere. Thank you!!!

You can try the following:

I cook italian food, and sometimes, I like to have a brake at the kitchen. I think this is a good one. The owners are the same as Drago (the best in Santa Monica. An italian friends invited us for his birthday, and he is very picky.)
Panzanella is not as fancy, but very nice. I like it a lot!
there is another one, with mix reviews, Oliva, which we go often, more casual than Panzanella. I hope this can help.
Make reservation, actually when we went there it was almost empty, but we eat dinner very late! Ask for a table near the window.

My hubby and I live in Sherman Oaks. We like Tiramisu, which is around the corner from us, and Louise's Trattoria, a local chain. I believe the closest one is in Studio City.

Good for you, Date night is a must. I would like to suggest you try Cafe Bellisimo in Woodland Hills. We have been there several times and LOVE it. The atmosphere is casual and fun. They have a full bar , excellent food and singing waiters. It is a great place to go as a couple , with friends or even bring the family. They have inside and covered , heated patio seating available. I would suggest sitting on the patio if you are looking for a more intimate dining experience. Also do yourself a favor and order the lobster ravioli it is fantastic. Hope this post helps and you guys have a great time no matter where you choose

I don't know if this is the best Italian restaurant in the Valley, but my husband and I went to Cafe Carolina in Encino, and it's a nice, intimate little place that we enjoyed. The food was good and tasted homemade. We had fun. Here's their website: http://www.organiccafecarolina.com/page_2.html. Hope you have fun wherever you go!

There is a great KID FRIENDLY restaurant called the ITALIAN FISHERMAN on Riverside Drive, near Cahuenga. It is right next to Baja Fresh, killer meatball sandwiches, chicker parm is great, and my daughter throws spaghetti all over the floor without a dirty look from the staff. Great food, and kid friendly! I hope you like it!

Hi R.,

I live in Northridge too but I don't really like Alessio. We go to Woodland HIlls to La Finestra (Corbin and Ventura) but if you want a really romantic place for date night go to Brandywine on Ventura and Fallbrook. Another good place is Adagio - also on Ventura near Fallbrook.

Have fun!

Spumoni in Sherman Oaks on Ventura just west of Van Nuys Blvd. It's small, the service is awesome and it's YUMMY! The owner is so nice and really pampers all of his customers.

I'm sure you've gotten a number of suggestions. I recommend OLIVA on Van Nuys Blvd at Moorpark in Sherman Oaks and MEZZOMONDO on Ventura Blvd. just east of Whitsett in Studio City. Enjoy your date, wherever you go. Now you'll have a great list for all your special nights with your husband. And yes, you need a night out once a week with him to keep the relationship from getting too parent-oriented. And if you can keep from talking about the baby too much, that will keep your perspective of who you were before baby. We have been married for 42 years and I believe in that theory.
Happy dating!

Try Alessio's on Reseda Blvd., south of Lassen St. in Northridge. It's real popular on the weekends so reservations are recommended. Food is great and it's an ideal date place.

My next favorite is Maria's Italian Kitchen just down the street, the food is very good, but the atmosphere is kind of too busy to be romantic for a date.

There's a great little restaurant on Devonshire and Mason (I think it's considered Chatsworth) called Angelo's. It's in a strip mall, but oh so good. We love going there. Hope you have a great date night!!

Hi R.: Good for you and your husband for doing this for yourselves. My hubby and I love to go to Louises Trattoria on Los Feliz, in Hollywood, close to Burbank. It was where he took me on our first date almost 10 years ago and we have loved it ever since. The food is great, the table staff are nice and pleasant. It has a very nice romantic atmosphere.

Have fun!!!

Our 3 favorite are in Sherman Oaks (where we live) and Studio City. Sicily's at Ventura Blvd. & Sepulveda Blvd. (across the street from the Galleria). Try the linguini with clams in white sauce or the Chilean sea bass picatta. There's Oliva's Trattoria on Van Nuys Blvd. just north of Ventura Blvd. Also, Micelli's (?) on Riverside Dr. just west of Coldwater Canyon Blvd. on the south side. Their minestrone soup is great as well as their garlic bread.

LA PERGOLA is muie bella! 15005 Ventura Blvd., Sherman Oaks
###-###-####. It's between Sepulveda and Kester on the North side of the street. The owner owns a plot of land around the corner from the restaurant where he and the head chef grow their own vegetables so the menu changes often - depending on what was picked THAT DAY! It's awesome and small and quiet.
Enjoy.

There's a great Italian Restaurant in Van Nuys called "San Remo" - its casual but nice. My family is from Italy and we have had all of our baptism, first communion, birthdays, and any other celebratin you can think of there. If you like Salmon, I recommend the "Pasta con Salmone". Its located on Victory Blvd. between Hazeltine and Woodman. They have great foccacia too!

I love Oliva Trattoria in Van Nuys. It's small, romantic. It has the best food from incredible pasta (a recent special was a pasta with a whole lobster tail in it) to pizza to grilled meats. I had my birthday party there. They also make a mean lemon drop martini. They take reservations. It's at 4449 Van Nuys Blvd just south of the 101/134 freeway. Phone ###-###-####
