Hi Moms,

I am due with my second in September and my toddler will be 3 at that time. She is a bit of a peanut so I think she would sit in the stroller with her little sister. We don't have a preference on the type of double stroller; side by side, regular, jogger, etc. I know the BOB strollers are fantastic but $600 for a stroller is far beyond our means.

Please let me know any suggestions you have on a dobble stroller, the good, the bad, the ideal!

Thanks!

We got the bob double, and kinda regret it because our son is almost too tall for it and he is only 3!. Ive seen people get those sit/stand single stroller, which allows the bigger child to stand or sit and the other child to be in a standard stroller seat. I liked the idea of it since my almost 3 year old ( june ) would rather help push his sister than be in the stroller as well. Except when I go on walks to the playground or other planned walks, he really doesnt want to be in it all that much. If I decide to sell my bob, ill message you to see if you are interested because it is a terrific jogging double stroller! Good Luck!

Since your daughter is 3 already, I would not invest a lot of money on a
double stroller. By 3 they are usually out of it.

I got a side by side MacLaren Triumph when my second child was born and it was the best decision. Pros - both children can see everything, the seats independantly recline if one child wants to sleep while the other looks around, collapes to a manable size for your car and isn't super heavy and BEST OF ALL - it is designed to fit through standard doorways so it's compact enough that I don't struggle getting into stores. I also travel 3-4 times a year with my children internationally and it's held up well after several flights. The Cons are that it's really meant for sidewalk walking and not off roading. I've brought it to the beach once and it was not great in sand. Lastly, - no cup holder. I put in an aftermarket one but that stuck out to the side of the stroller and kept getting caught in doorways. MacLaren did issue a recall a couple of years ago on some strollers because children were getting their fingers stuck in the hinge when parents were opening it. I never had that problem and I presume they've fixed that issue by now. In terms of cost, I shopped around online and got it for just over $200.

We have had two double strollers. One was a Graco where one child sat behind the other. It was fine when my daughter was little, but she hated it as she got older, because she couldn't see anything aside from the back of her brother. Once she turned about 7 months we got a second hand Jeep side by side stroller (Wrangler Twin Sport All-Weather JT008 Stroller (Double, Reclining)). We LOVE it! Both kids get to see everything, and walks are one of their favorite parts of the day. Even though it is side by side, we have never had a problem taking it to stores or anything like that. Our son is 3, and our daughter is 18 months. We found ours on Craigslist for $60 - so checking there may be worth it. Regular price is around $90.00, I think. Totally worth the investment in my opinion.
Good Luck!

I got a good double jogging stroller for under $200 at onestepahead.com. I just looked on the site, and it seems that they don't have the stroller I got anymore. They do have many other options, though, and the prices are more reasonable than elsewhere. I can't personally reccommend any of the strollers, but I've been happy with other purchases from that site.

I don't actually jog with my stroller, but I do like to have big wheels so I can go through mud and snow and over grass.

As another poster mentioned, though, you probably won't want to use the double stroller for long if your daughter is 3, and I know my double stroller works less well if only one child is sitting in it. You might consider using a sling or other carrier for your infant, and when the baby is too heavy to carry, your oldest child will probably be out of the stroller anyway.

Try looking on Craigslist or your local eBay section - you may luck out and find a more reasonably priced Bob. They have terrific resale value; we sold our three year old one for $300, and it looked practically new.

(and sorry - we only had the Bob so I don't have any recommendations for others)
