We lost our camera on Thanksgiving vacation and I really need to get a new one before Christmas because it will be my son's first christmas! My husband really wants an SLR so I figured we could replace our point and shoot with an SLR and it could be his Christmas gift. I've looked around a little, but I want to get the best for my money. The two that seem to be best bang for the buck so far are the Nikon D60 and the Sony A200K. I know that I love Nikons, but the Sony is a little less and has really good reviews. I don't know a ton about photograpy, so any help would be appreciated! And if you know of good cameras other than those two I'd welcome input on those also! Thanks!

So What Happened?

We got the D60 and so far we really like it! Can't wait to play with it more. Thanks!

I have a Nikon D60 and absolutely love it! I have a friend with a Sony and she seems happy too, but she was also jealous of my camera, so take that for what its worth!

Personally I would get the Nikon D 60. It is smaller and the easiest to use of the SLR's. It is actually on my wishlist as we speak. My bro just got a D80 and it is pretty incredible, but the D60 is cheaper. Definitely recommended. Don't know where you live, but Farrs Jewlery in Utah and Idaho will have the BEST prices of anywhere.
