I know someone asked this a while back, but I can't find the request. We are having our first in June and I need to know what the best baby monitors are and which ones not to look at.

Thank you for all your help!

I LOVE LOVE LOVE my Summer video monitor ... they have a NUMBER of options for you. It's WORTH the cost, I have just the basic camera and tv unit that I keep in the livingroom. It has a great volume range and you can WATCH your baby day or night! There is a handheld model, a color model, one that has the stationary tv and a lights and sound hand unit. They even have one for your CAR!!! No turning around to see what baby's up to. These products are great because they are still relevant into toddler/kid years you can easily SEE what's going on in his room when it's getting "TOO QUIET" and it allows him/her to have friends over and them to play in his/her room and you still know what's going on. Mine cost about $100 and the most I have seen is $200 I think ... WELL WORTH THE COST useage for MANY YEARS!!!

I highly recommend the Fisher Price Sounds n Lights monitor. I've had great luck with it, and have used it for over 2 years. The lights are nice, because if you're outside and can't hear as well, you can still see if your child is making noise.

And, if you're in the market for a video monitor, I like the Summer Infant Sounds monitor. If you haven't though about a video monitor, I highly, highly recommend it. It's my favorite baby item, and the thing I miss most when we travel. I still use it with my 2 year-old. Yes, they're a bit pricey, but I know there were times I would have gone into my daughter's room and woken her up because I heard her, and she was really just babbling or talking in her sleep.

I also have the Fisher Price Sounds and Lights Baby Monitor, and I LOVE it! I had registered for a different one, but my friend bought this one instead, as she had it and loved it. I've since recommended it to friends, and they love it too! It's nice that it has two channels, as I've stayed with friends, and we were able to switch our monitor to a different channel so that neither monitor had interferance. I love having the lights too. My hubby and I play an Internet video game and use headphones with it. I'll play when she naps during the day, and I can see the lights on the monitor and can tell the difference between her just stirring and going back to sleep, and when she's actually waking up.

I also loved having the night light with it. I would tap it on when doing night nursings. There was enough light to change her diaper and see to get her latched on, but not too much to wake her up so that she couldn't go back down. I didn't want her to have a night light that was on all night, and this one turns off after 15 min.

Good luck with everything!

Hi Jodi,
We actually love our baby monitor that allows you to see and hear our baby. It has a small screen that we put in our bedroom, and you mount a small video over the crib!! We love it!! It was about $100.00 at Target, but worth every penny!! You can buy additional monitors or videos seperatly.
