Best Baby Monitor?

I am looking for a good, long range baby monitor. I want to be able to have my kids in bed while sitting outside and still be able to hear them. We have tried a couple, but they don't seem to "reach" outside. Any suggestions?

What can I do next?

Try the Summer video monitor. Love it and I can walk to the mail box (three houses away) and still hear my son...it gets a bit staticy that far away, but it works great.

We've got Sony babyCall rechargable NTM-910. I don't remember it costing more than $20-25. It's got two settings...voice activated and on. It has 27 channels which is great. We plug it in at night and then can use it during the day outside or where ever. It's great when I need to work in the garden. We have a one story house and it works great for our distance. It will beep if you get out of range or if the battery is low. Good luck.

The Sony Babycall is the best monitor ever. I love love love it. It is so sensitive and clear that I have to keep it turned down so low or I wouldn't get any sleep. It is great when she is sick with a cold because I can hear if she has any problems breathing. It has an noise activated setting that is helpful if your a light sleeper. I can take it anywhere in my house or yard and not be out of range. I personally like that it is water resistant for the lake house because I can take it out to the dock. I have only seen it in blue and white and it cost about $50.00 but worth every penny. Hope this is helpful.

I don't know if it's the best, but we've liked our Sony BabyCall monitor, which has a rechargeable battery. It does do some weird beeps occasionally, but works well otherwise, and has a small antenna, which I like. I've liked our Graco monitor. And FYI, whichever monitor you buy, keep the receipt in case it doesn't work out (we tried three with child #2 before finding one we liked).Good luck!

Fisher Price Sounds and Lights are excellent with long range and clearness (not fuzzy sounding) --and this is cheaper at Target.

We love Graco's Digital iMonitor. We have the base station as well as two parent units, but you can also get the version with two base stations. It's a little on the pricey side (although currently on sale at website below), but we've really loved it. We live in a huge apartment building with no yard, so we haven't needed it to go outside, but it does reach all of our 1600 square feet place - even through the cement walls - with no problem.

We actually found it was cheaper to by it online at the following website. And they usually have free shipping on orders over $50, so that's not an issue.

Good luck! :)

I have heard that what is good for one person may not be good for the next. Look at your cordless phones in the house and try to buy one with a different gigarange to avoid interference. At least that's what I've heard. Mine is the same and I get lots of static on the monitor.

We have the Fisher Price lights and sound baby monitor. It must have a very sensitive microphone because it picks up every little sound. It even picks up our clock chimming in the living room.

I have the Safety 1st Home Connection Monitor System and love it. It isn't perfect but for what we wanted this was great. I has 3 "baby Units" and 2 "Parnet Units" so you can listen to up to 3 different rooms or only 1 room if you choose. What it does is scan the 3 different rooms that you have them in so you know what the kids are doing instead of haveing more than one monitor. We take ours out side all the time and have not had any problems. I plug mine in out side so the battery last longer but it does have batteries that you can take it out as well I find that there is less static when it is plugged in though and it is loud when you turn it all the way up so you can still hear it if you are out in the yard. Good Luck with the search for a great monitor I remember doing the same thing.

We have the 10 channel Fisher Price one. I love it. I always take it outside with me and do yard work. I don't tests its limits though cause I don't want to be too far from the little guy. I haven't had any problems. And because of all the different channels, I haven't had any problems hearing neighbor's babies.
