Belly 1 Year Post-Baby

My son is a year old and while I have lost all the baby weight that I gained I still have a flabby belly that just looks... weird. I'm planning on doing pilates to tone my stomach muscles but I'm kind of worried its not fat at all but just loose skin. When i sit, it wrinkles up like the face of a 95-year-old woman. Any of you mommas out there have this problem and if so, did exercise and diet get rid of it? Or is it really just extra skin? And if it IS extra skin, how do I make it go away without surgery??

Yes I too have it. Gained 75lbs first pregnancy and 60 lbs the second. I have lost all the weight, thanks to running and lifting weights, and am even a size smaller than I was before babies, but the saggy skin on my stomach is still there. It has shrank a siginificant amount, but its still there! Over time it doesn't bug me anymore.

Everyone looks different after having a baby and what I have to say is enjoy the beauty of what your body did and what you have to show for bringing a baby into the world

Sorry to tell you, but it's extra skin. Other than surgery, there's nothing we can do!

He He. I feel your pain. My youngest DD will be 1 next week. She is my 3rd. And I still have the baby belly.

I am going to get an eliptical and try that. I think the muscles are so stretched from 3 kids that they need to be tightened back up.

its extra skin. When you loose alot of weight really fast (like by giving birth.) you are stuck with stretched out skin. I lost alot of weight before baby (150 pds in about 1.5yrs) so I already had stretched out skin. suposedly if you build the muscel under the skin it helps but I was exercising between 3-7hrs a day and saw no difference. I'm not really sure there is a way to get rid of it without surgery

Pilates should help pull your muscles back for sure. Some women have more reslient skin than others. It could just be loose skin from stretching during pregnancy. I don't know that there are any real solutions besides surgery to eliminate loose skin, though.

It is probably extra skin. If you are young OR have good genes for skin, it can naturally go away on its own w/o you doing anything to the skin itself. It can take a while- but I don't think it will EVER look as good as before.
