I've heard and seen good things about The Biggest Loser 30 Day Jump Start. I saw clips of it on QVC a week or so back, and have been thinking about it. I saw in the weekly ads that Target has it for $10 this week and you get a subscription to Fitness magazine. I haven't made it over there but I plan on getting it.

It has various levels that you can work up to.

Good Luck!

Hi P.,

If you have cable, you may already have exercise videos through "on demand". You can also download free workouts from exercisetv.tv Some are free and most are pretty cheap. You can get a good idea for which trainers you like from the free workouts and then download or order their other DVD's.
I also second the advice about watching your diet. Even small changes will help you lose weight.

Best of luck!

Cardio and diet is everything. You can exercise all you want, but if you don't control your diet you will not lose fat (although you will build muscle underneath it).

Walking is great. If you'd rather stay indoors, I've enjoyed the www.beachbody.com stuff. I have P90X and Turbo Jam, but personally, I'd rather go to Lifetime Fitness and participate in group fitness classes.

Diet: weight watchers or Body for Life, from the
professional front. But just maintaining a well-balanced 1800 calorie/day diet works for me.

I'm not a professional dietician or anything but have been an athlete all of my life and believe, me, losing it is one thing, keeping where you want is a totally different ball game.

Best of luck!

Hi P.,
Good for you.
Try your local library. They should have several. When you find a trainer/instructor you like then you can go to amazon.com and find other things they have done. One you might like is Zumba. The important thing is to find something you enjoy doing so you will stay with it.
You will need to do both cardio (to burn calories) and weights to build muscle. If you don't build muscle, your metabolism will decrease and you could get caught up in the yo-yo dieting trap. Dieting is one of the causes of obesity. When you lose a pound up to 40% of it is muscle.
The only weight mangagement program that does not cause muscle lose is the Cinch program from Shaklee. On that program you lose only fat and maintain muscle. You can find it at http://www.cinchplan.com/healthforlife
If you can find a friend to hold you accountable and support you that may help. Also, many studies have shown that people who eat breakfast are more likely to maintain a healthy weight.
