My 7-year old boy is still wetting the bed, nearly every night. We tried the vibrating "potty pager" and had success for the first month, but now he just sleeps through the vibrations. He is a VERY heavy sleeper. Does anyone have any suggestions on what to try next?

What can I do next?

My son wet the bed everyday for 13 years. I took him to a chiropractor and the problem was solved in a very short time. I know that it worked for us, when we couldn't find a solution anywhere else

I wet the bed until I was ten. How I wish they had those night time pants when I was a kid!!!!! I used to dream that I got up and went to the bathroom but I'd wake up wet. It was embarrassing and gross. I feel bad for your son.I would talk to him about what happend. He is probably a heavy sleeper which is good but limit drinks after dinnertime and go to the bathroom right before bed. Also, you may want to try to wake him before you go to bed for an extra trip to the bathroom. If he's dreaming like I was he can leard to recognise the dream and wake himself up. This may take some time to master but he will outgrow it and learn to wake himself up. Good Luck to you both.

To be completely honest, I sometimes still wet the bed. Now that I'm almost 30, it's about once a year or so, but it still happens (and is horrifying, I'll admit). I am just too sound a sleeper. When I was your son's age, it happened a lot and started tapering off around 13. It was terribly embarrasing, I was afraid to go to sleepovers and stuff.

Eventually, and I'm not sure how this works for everyone, I trained myself to dream about having to go to the bathroom. I'll dream that I'm looking everywhere for one and cant find one anywhere. If I start to feel any relief, it wakes me up because I know I'm going to pee.

One thing you can do is try to limit his liquids after 6 in the evening. I try to not drink anything after 5:30 if I can avoid it.

Well I have 3 kids 2 boys and 1 girl. My oldest who is almost 11yrs he is the one that still wets the bed. Its sporadic ..sometimes its 3 times a week. Other times it once the whole month.
I never make him feel bad. This is what I do. Obviously have a waterproof mattress cover on mattress.
1. have him go to the bathroom again right before sleep. I really try to be consistent and aware not to let him drink more than a couple sips of a drink before sleep.
2. My son situation is most likely brought on either because he was born with a tethered cord or that fact that he has a focusing problem. Does your child have either of these. We have been told children with focusing problems have a higher chance of bet wetting. Eventually they will outgrow it.
3. Just be patient..don't make a big deal about it.
4. With my son he feels bad about it. He realizes his younger brother and sister stopped having accidents LONG ago.

we had the same problem until about 7 1/4 and then finally it stopped. Our son is also a deep sleeper. Keep in mind that not ALL bladders are alike. some are smaller and simply don't hold as much liquid (I read that when I was researching the bed wetting dilema) that said, I think it's one of those things that if you are having him go to the bathroom before bedtime and limiting liquids as well (but only before bedtime) than this may have to run its course. while we waited it out, we put a plastic covering on his matress and pillow cases. Additionally, put a comforter on top as it was easier to pull off and clean... he's almost 9 now and hasn't wet his bed for since 7ish...

Plastic bed pad, and maybe the disposable night undies made for big kids.

Then make it a non-issue. He's at a point where it's embarassing, I'm sure, and the more of a deal you make, the more stress he will feel. Which will make it worse.

Some boys wet the bed up through 7 or 8. And then they just grow out of it. My brother was a wetter, even beyond then I think, and tried everything to no success, but eventually grew out of it. My son wet the bed up until a year ago.

If he's still having trouble next time he goes in for a checkup (when he turns 8, I assume), bring it up with the doctor. It would be time to rule out anything else. And sometimes emotional issues can cause bedwetting, so if there's anything going on it wouldn't hurt for him to see a councilor a few times (this may not be the case for you, but it is one possibility). Waiting it out is the hardest, but there's not a lot else that will work.

I wet the bed until I was 13 years old. You could try some natural solutions from a health food store which helped me but to be honest it was something I just had to out grow. Another thing you can try is telling them not to drink after like 7 O' Clock and if he does not drink things with caffeine because it's most likely to make it worse. I know for kids it can be imbarrasing but some things just take time. They can stretch your bladder but to make it easier on the lil feller I'd just give him some time. Another thing that really halped me was this nose spray it was a blessing from God. My family doctor gave it to me and it works better than anything I know of. Good luck!

Put a pull up on him and wait for his body to be ready for night time dryness. He is obviously not physically mature enough and the brain is not sending out that chemical to wake him up when he needs to go. He can't help this, it's not a choice or desire, he's just not ready. It is not something you can fix. If he has been to a Pediatric Urologist and been cleared of constipation and other physical issues then go buy some overnight pull ups and let him grow on his own level and not feel bad about himself.

My 10 year old grandson still has accidents and the Pediatric Urologist cleared him and told me this information. Once I put him in pull ups and his bedding stayed dry life was much easier and he feels much better about himself.
