These two groups were recommended to me by my family doctor. Anyone has any experience with any of those? If yes, which one and which doctor in particular would you recommend? Thanks a lot.

If you're in the Clearwater area, Bay Area Womens Care is wonderful and I would highly recommend! My OB/GYN is Dr Gregory Todd @ Fort Harrison location - fabulous prenatal care and delivery of my now 4 year old son, Griffin. Note: I personally didn't care for all of the Drs in that practice -so definitely request him (if he's accepting new patients) and I trust you'll be very happy! If you have more questions you can e-mail me @ ____@____.com Let me know how it goes.

All the best..., Sydney & Griffin

Hi K.,

I have been going to Contemporary Women's Care since I was pregnant with my first daughter who's now 4 years old. They recently became part of the Tampa Bay Women's Care Network, but are still known as Contemporary Women's Care. I just delivered my second daughter with them 3 months ago. I saw the midwives and love all of them. With both of my deliveries, I was able to schedule my appts with whichever midwife I liked. With my first daughter, Nancy even wrote me a Rx to say she would deliver even if she wasn't on call, which she did.

At an offices with multiple doctors, they suggest that you see all of them at least once. But once you meet them all, if you build a good relationship with one of them, they will allow you to see just that one. My friend built a strong relationship w/ Dr. Dadisman at CWC and was able to see only her during her pregnancy. Dr. Dadisman offered to deliver her baby even if she wasn't on call.

The staff is also very nice at CWC, so I think you would like them a lot.

Best of luck,
J.

Hi, I had all 3 of my babies, ages 5.5, 4 and 1.5, at Bay Area Womens Care and love them there. You do see all the doctors but they are very good at respecting your wishes about the baby and the birth. For instance, I was very against a c-section with my first child, I had heard through media reports that doctors rush into unnecessary c-sections, etc. So I did not want that. When I went into labor, I was in labor for 23 hours and still not dialated enough. The nurses were like, should we do a c-section and my doctor said no, she was very clear about not wanting one unless absolutely necessary (life threatening to me or baby). By that time I had had enough and said do the c-section! But I was so impressed that he had noted and respected my wishes. I love them there and my doctor is Dr Jensen, he delivered all of my babies, but I really liked all of the doctors there and the staff is very nice too!

I used Bay Area Woman's Care for my second as it was recommended by a friend. However, I felt much the same way as the first post described. You never see the same doctor twice. Everyone was nice and they did a good job, but there is no way to build rapore with a doctor in this size of a practice. Every time I saw a doctor I would ask questions on how they handle the actual day of the birth. Told them what I wanted. Everyone one of them had a different response. So finally I left as I did not feel comfortable with getting what I knew I wanted on that special day. I went to Labor of Love in Dunedin and WOW what a difference! I would walk in with my son for appointments and the receptionist would say "Hi there Nickel Family!" Everyone talks to you there, they all get to know you. They are awesome! I would never go any where else. It was a incredible experience. Since I used them I have ran in to sooo many women who have used them and have never heard one bad word about them. I kid you not, I have run in to at least 20 or more women and not ONE bad then was mentioned. Everyone of them said the same thing, I will never go back to a practice again. So I suggest you check them out. At least interview them, ask a ton of questions. I spent well over an hour with them on my first visit!! Asked a ton of questions and they answered them all and provided lots of great information. They are located in Dunedin.

I go to Bay area Women't Care and they are great there. They have three different locations depending on where you live. Give them a call. I see Dr. Patricia St. John and she's real nice but if not taking patients they are all good over there. It think there's like 10 or more doctors. There is one older man I don't like though, I think it Peterfreund but I'm not sure. He's older though and not much personality. Other than him, they are all great...lol.....

I've been going to Bay Area Women's Care (formerly Contemporary Womens Care) for over 4 years now, have delivered 2 children with them and am on my third. I see Dr. Katherine Dadisman, but I would suggest if pregnant, to see all of the 5 Drs there and decide which dr best suits your personality and needs. Everyone is very friendly there, I know many people who are patients here. Hope this helps!

My Dr's office is called Contemporary Womens Care, which is now affilicated with Tampa Bay Womens Care, but still keeps their name as Contemporary Womens Care. They have both Dr's and midwives, you choose which group you want to see. If you are High risk, you must see the Dr's. Their practice no longer offers VBAC, but may in the future. They are very nice and pro-breastfeeding and allows the delivery to be as you want. I saw the midwives and was very happy. Although I needed a C-section, unplanned, and can not deliver with them again if I want VBAC, I have heard that the other office you are considering DOES perform VBAC (not many in the area do)... Bay Area Womens Care. I know many moms are happy there and I will likely switch to them. Both deliver at Morton Plant in Clw.

Best of luck!

I went to Tampa Bay Women's Care with my pregnancy and delivery of my 4 yr.old Like the PP stated there are a lot of doctors and you don't get a personal connection with any of them since you see someone different each time. I did like most of the doctors and staff but most of the time it felt like a cattle drive and I was just another number. If you do go with them though and find a Dr you liek you may be able to work it so you see them each time.

I have gone to Bay Area Women's Care for the past 3 years and really like the practice. Dr. Peterfreund delivered my son this past Oct. and he was great (not my primary Dr. at the practice but still good). He was very particular about everything and detail oriented which I thought was great! His bedside manner was average but his medical expertise was obvious. I also really like Dr. Miller, she has a great bedside manner. I have had a positive experience with the group and will continue seeing them and probably have them deliver my next baby too (when the time comes :-)! Hope this info. helps!

Dear K.,

The previous poster was mistaken. Contemporary Women's Care is still called that name. Bay Area Women's Care is not associated with them nor has any overlapping doctors. They both, however, deliver at Morton Plant Hospital in Clearwater. I'm unaware of Tampa Bay Women's care.

I delivered my first child (15 mos) with Contemporary and had Dr. Dadisman. She is wonderful. They now require you to sign an abritration agreement that states you can't sue them in court. It only allows for a mediation. My husband and I were uncomfortable signing away our constitutional right to a trial by jury. And in retrospect weren't pleased with the way the "emergency" c-section went. So, we switched to Bay Area Women's care.

We love Bay Area Women's and specifically Dr. Patricia St. John. She is wonderful, calming, experienced and professional. The other doctors there are fantastic too. Our next baby due 1/09 will be delivered by them.

Hope this helps,

S.

First, Bay Area Women's Care and Contemporary Women's care are two different places not the same place as previosly stated. I haven't heard much about Tampa Bay Women's Care but I go to Bay Area Women's Care and I love it. My Favorite is Dr. Miller who ended up delivering my son. I also liked Dr St John and Dr Todd but all of the Doctors were really nice. When you are pregnant you have one main doctor who you see a little more often but they do try to let you see all the doctors at least once. If you go into labor and another doctor is on call they want to make sure that person is someone you've met and not just a stranger. I think it is a great idea. Obviously if you aren't pregnant you see the doctor you have chosen each time you go. I wish you luck in finding the right doctor for you.

Hi K.,

I went to Tampa Bay Women's Care for pregnancy and delivery of my 6-year-old daughter, and continued for annual check-ups until this year. It is a large practice (about 10 doctors), beautiful office near St. Joseph's Women's Hospital, all the bells and whistles. While I would say I received adequate care, I definitely felt like I was on an assembly line during my pregnancy. I was considered high risk, so I had to go weekly. I spent far more time waiting than I did being examined. They wanted me to see every doctor so I would be familiar with them for delivery, but the result was that I didn't feel familiar with any of them. After my last visit there, where my questions were dismissed/ignored because the nurse practitioner was too busy filling out paperwork, I decided to go elsewhere. I just felt too much like a number and wanted to feel more like a person to my doctor.

One physician there does stand out - Martina Reiss. I liked her very much, but found it too difficult to get an appointment.

Good luck,
J.
