Does anyone have any suggestions or home remedies to unclog my bathtub drain.
Try really hot water, boil some water in a tea kettle.... and pour down the sink. Then pour some baking powder down the drain and follow with vinegar. The reation will bubble. This will help clean it out.
Hi A., this is what I do for a living so I will give you some ideas for free. There is a small tool you can buy from Home Depot. It's plastic and flat. The tool is about 18 to 24 inches long and has small barbs along the side of it. You push it in and then pull it back out. It catches hair that might be in the drain. Also you can get a "drain butster" that you attach to a water hose. You take the overflow cover off and put it down in there and turn the water on for a few minutes. You just need to make sure you have it down past the drain in the bottom of the tub. typically this is used when it's completely clogged. Good luck!!!

My husband used to be a plumber and he swears by pouring a cup of bleach down the drain and following it with boiling hot water.... it usually only takes doing once or twice... depends on clogged the pipe is... hope this helps!!
When the drain is mostly dry, fill it with baking soda (you can really pack in the baking soda if you want to). Pour white vinegar over it and it will bubble like crazy. If after a few minutes the baking soda is still there, add more vinegar. Once the soda has completely dissolved, rinse the drain with warm water.
I try to do this once a month.

take the drain off, & clean out any hair if you can see any then use crystal drain cleaner.
If you don't ever actually try to clean your drain, i.e. tweezers to make sure there isn't something caught right at the rain, that followed with drain cleaner has helped in the past but I don't think I have had a slow drain that was that bad. Call Home Depot, even though they are trying to make a buck if there is something you can do yourself, you will be able to find out from them more easily than a plumber.
I had the same problem and tried everything. My plumber came and put something called "Glug" in the drain. You can get it at most plumbing supply stores. It looks like little plastic snowflakes but when add hot water, it dissolves all the junk that is clogging your drain and it is safe to use. I tried every strong chemical I could to no avail and the smell from them was terrible. This was a miracle cure. Just explain what it looks like and they will understand.
