Bathroom Cleaner for "Green" Pregnant Mom

I want to know if anyone has tips for cleaning the bathroom while pregnant. I can't use my normal cleaning products because of all the chemicals and fumes, and am actually wanting to go a little greener anyway. However, I really want/need to scrub my bathroom as the grout in my bathtub is slowly turning a grey color. Gross!

What can I do next?

I always use baking soda to scrub sinks and tubs. It gives it a nice shine :) also, while I was pregnant, I used Simple Green all through the house. smells great, you can get it at Lowe's/Home Depot and Sams. SIDENOTE: I also use a teaspoon of baking soda in my cheap shampoo for shiny beautiful hair and to exfoliate my face once a week. That stuff is awesome :) and CHEAP!!

i too was in the same dilemma until I found a product called Tub and Tile. it is manufactured by a company called Melaleuca. I wasn't really looking for something "green" when I found this company, I was really looking for the oppportunity to work from home, but what I found is so much more. I became a marketing executive for the company and in doing so, I completely converted my home to their products. I absolutely love this company. All of their products are naturally based there are no chemicals whatsoever. They really work great. The main ingredient is Melaleuca oil. If this sounds like something you'd be interested in let me know. You can visit my website at www.homeofficemamma.com. You'll find my email address and phone number there.

I am a green mom and my "kids" are healthier because of it...now 34, 30 and 26. <grin>

Using the vinegar, baking soda suggestions is definitely safer...but the performance lacks a little and the products have to be made up fresh each time in order to work well. Who has the time for that?

The Shaklee suggestion is definitely a safe for your home idea. I have been a Melaleuca customer for 17 years and having tried all the others that you have been advised on (except the Clorox product stuff - not toxic free)...I have to tell you that those two telling you about Melaleuca have the top suggestion. No distributor to deal with - products are much safer - work better than the other suggestions - and are less expensive to use. Delivered to your door and everything is money back guaranteed. Totally risk free to try.

I just wanted to encourage you that this will definitely be what you are looking for...

Oprah did a show on this once. You might check her website. I read the other postings and Simple Green sounded familiar. Maybe that was it. The product looked to be everything you would want, environmentally friendly etc.

To keep the shower area clean, you can use a non-toxic method to prevent mold in the first place, no scrubbing or chemicals required! A friend told me about the air-it-out shower hook. It's basically a suction cup with a hooked tube on it to pull the middle of the shower curtain away from the tub siding after you're done showering. This lets air underneath it to help dry out the area and voila!! It destroys molds breeding ground and stops it before it starts. I found it at www.air-it-out.weebly.com

I green clean for a living and use Bio-Kleen Bac Out -
http://biokleenhome.com/
it has lime in it that acts as a live enzyme culture to break down the soap scum etc - it smells wonderful and works like a dream -
its concentrated, so a little goes a long way -
i recommend it over all others I have tried.
Also, this stuff is great too - but the smell may be a bit much for you since you are preggo - maybe afterwards - but I would def. recommend the laundry detergent - I've been using it for about 4 months now - 1tbsp per load - and my clothes have never been softer - even when hung to dry. I am allergic to most laundry products and this is the best one I have EVER found!!!!!

Vinegar! I know it's not the newest idea but it's cheap, environmentally friendly, and has no harmful chemicals. You can clean just about anything with it...bathtubs, toilets, sinks, floors, mirrors, anything. I use it just about every day. I keep a LABELED spray bottle of diluted vinegar in each bathroom for easy clean up of toothpaste on the countertops and mirrors! Works great and doesn't smell all that bad.

Hi S.
If you wanted to go "greener", you are making a wise choice. I recently started buying products from a wellness company. Not only are they natural, and non-toxic, they have hundreds of different products, from household cleaners, laundry products, hair, skin, face, just about anything you would need. Even supplements for all needs, joints, heart care, minerals and vitamins that are natural, no artificial color or preservatives for adults and kids. I became interested in this company because my youngest daughter developed allergies, and was always sick. She even developed a pneumonia a few weeks ago. That's what pushed me to go green and try these products. I absolutely love them!! It's also a great company because you have the choice of making some extra money. If you want to learn more, please go to www.stayinhome&lovinit.com/melena. or call ###-###-####. Best wishes! Congratulations on choosing to go "green"

Bravo! Shaklee are products I used while pregnant, with great results. Also, something you have around the house...vinegar and baking soda. Vinegar and water mixed will clean your floors and mirrors amazingly well. If you can stomach the smell during pregnancy, you'll be pleased with the results. Also, baking soda mixed with dish detergent and water works well on floors, toilets and tubs. Good luck!
