Bare Minerals Make-up? How Many of You Moms Wear Make-up Daily?

Hi Moms!

I had a coupon for a free eyeliner from Bare Minerals. I've used a similar product name in the past before, but have not tried Bare Minerals. Any of you ladies wear this brand? I still have some acne and the lady that worked there said it cleared up her acne a bit...is this true or has anyone who has acne experienced better skin? I teach dance at night, so I don't wear make-up. I use to back in High School though. Can make-up really improve your skin? Also; do you guys wear make-up when you don't work if you are around the house? I am so use to not wearing make-up, that if I did buy some, I don't know when I would wear it! Hehe. If I wear any make-up lately its been lipstick, eyeliner and mascara...that's it! I always worry that make-up will make my acne flare up more.

Any reviews or products you like from Bare Minerals would be great! I love the fact that its quick and easy to use from what I've heard in the past!

Thanks!

What can I do next?

I use bare minerals foundation (I cheat, though, and just mix foundation with cornstarch for the top layer, forget the name, the 'airbrush' layer... that's all it is, cornstarch+pigment...so I spend $1.50 on cornstarch and save $25. I don't wear that every day, though, just for special occasions. It makes my skin too flawless, if that makes sense?). Absolutely love and adore the foundation. I switched over years ago. I go cheap on the rest of it, although I'll grab the free trials and use them quite happily when coupons come out.

I wear makeup every day. I consider it my war paint :) I'm an athlete (ish, I'm sort of broken at the moment), and one of the great things about bare minerals is that it doesn't run/streak/get oily/ etc. It just stays put.

What I wear daily:

- Foundation (bareminerals)
- blush
- eye liner (smudge proof)
- mascara (waterproof)
- lip gloss (because my complexion doesn't stand up to color I need pale pinks and peaches... so I just use tinted lipgloss from GAP instead)

For photos, nights out, etc I'll add eyeshadow, contrasting blush/shadowing, lipliner, lipstick, gloss... but that radically increases my application time. My everday use makeup takes me 3 minutes, max., and it makes the parts of my face stand out or not as I need. Vavavoom doesn't need to happen every day ;)

I have tried everything, and bare minerals is wonderful. I use the base powder, and the mineral veil. I hardly feel it on me, I love it, and would never use anything else now - I also use their lipstick.

I LOVE it so much. Very worth the money, which honestly, is not even as high as some high end makeup you see in department stores. I have normal to oily skin and they make a matte finish foundation that is amazing and reduces the shine on my face big time. This is what I use:

Bare minerals foundation (matte)
Eye shadow, either from BM too or Sephora store brand (theirs is great)
Eye liner pencil or BM eye liner in the form of powder, that looks like liner when you use the angled eye liner brush
mascara (here is one thing I have learned to cut corners on; drug store mascara is totally great...Maybelline, L'oreal, etc.)
Bare minerals blush in "Joyous Jennifer" shade

The other thing I'd add is that you MUST get the right brushes to use this makeup. Bare minerals comes with a starter kit with two major brushes, the foundation brush that is fat and short, and the wide brush for the "finisher" minerals that sets your makeup. There is also a flat, thin brush that I use to sweep some of the foundation under my eyes where I can get circles if tired. I decided when I was in my early 30s that I would invest the money into good makeup that makes me look polished and finished and professional. In fact, I started with Bare minerals when my youngest was a colicky baby because I wanted makeup that would hide the tired look. IT WORKS because four years later I am more tired than ever and the makeup still makes me look awake!

I used it and liked it but I prefer Estee Lauder Double Wear Makeup. Additionally, I buy the Estee Lauder during their promotions so I get free makeup remover, mascara, lip stick etc,.. So I feel like it is a better deal.
FYI... My daughter's dermatologist recommended Estee Lauder when she was having an issue with acne.
Also, I wouldn't go to my mailbox without makeup on:0).

I love my Bare Minerals. When I first started using it, I signed up as a "club" member and got automatic deliveries. After giving birth to my first daughter, I stopped wearing makeup as often (now only wear it to church, really), so here I am, 3 years after I started using it, and am still only on my second containers of EVERYTHING except for the bronzer, which I am still on my first container of. It lasts forever, it doesn't clog your pores like regular makeup does.... I just love it!

Oh my, I have A LOT to say about this product! First, I will tell you that I always wear make-up, everyday, don't go out of the house (if I can help it) without make-up. A couple of years ago I was having this problem with a "rash" around my nose. It was itchy, red, and seemed to be spreading. I believed it to be the liquid foundation I was using. So, I stopped using anything on my face (except oil of olay moisturizer, which I have used for years under my make-up) to see if it would clear up. It didn't. I knew I wanted to be able to go back to wearing some sort of foundation. One day my daughter and I were in Ulta when the Bare Minerals caught my eye. Long story short, I decided to give it a try and bought one of the starter kits (it was Christmas several years ago). I also bought their moisturizer which is called Bare Vitamins, Skin Rev-er upper. Within 1 week of using this combonation, my nose cleared up!! It was AMAZING! No more redness, or itchiness after almost a year of dealing with it (and it getting worse over time). I believe that it was the Rev-er upper that did it. People always tell me what nice skin I have, so I know I must be doing something right. BM also has a product called Prime Time. Its an oil controlled primer that you can put on over the Rev-er upper, and it primes your skin to apply the foundation. So, if you have any areas (me, around the eyes) that are "problem areas with wrinkles or fine lines" it fills them in so your foundation goes on more smoothly.

With that being said, I do not buy all of BM make-up. I do use their blush, but do not care for their mascara. I use Maybelline Great Lash (which I love). Both of my daughters wear BM, as do my mother and best friend. I think it is a wonderful product. I can't say enough about what a difference it has made for me personally. I would at least give it a try. I don't think you will ever know if it will work for you unless you do. If it doesn't work for you, I'm quite sure you can find someone who does wear the BM to sell it to or give it to. Good Luck!

I have a friend who is an esthetician, and she loves it. I have not tried it, but seeing all these rave reviews, I might have to.
I am 30 and the last 5 years or so, my skin has been really problematic. What worked for me is, I started getting facials about every 6 weeks. They immediately make a difference and my skin stays really nice for a few weeks afterward. I mean, noticeably different, like people complimenting it. Also, I have tried out a lot of different skin products thanks to my friend bringing me samples, but I found that the brand Yon-ka is really great. It is expensive, I won't lie. I just bought the moisturizer (called Pamplemousse) and it was around $50 for a bottle. But, it smells wonderful, lasts a long time, and again makes an immediate difference. A lot of my fine lines are less noticeable and it makes your skin incredibly soft. It controls oil really well. Now I only get a few pimples at period time, rather than battling them all the time.

I'm like you. I don't wear makeup because my skin is tempermental. I fell for the Bare Minerals hype that its okay for sensitive skin. My face looked like a pizza in half an hour's time. I also didn't like the way it melted into the crevaces in my face during hot and humid weather. It breaks down really fast and looks muddy. I have just concluded I'm allergic to everything out there.

The only makeup I used recently that didn't mess me up too bad was Boots' liquid foundation that is supposed to self correct and match your skin. Don't know why, but I didn't break out and it didn't break down like the mineral stuff. I wore it for a holiday party last year.

LOOOVE THAT STUFF. SO worth the money. My skin IS better too. I didn't believe them at first but it's true.

I'm not great at make-up but that stuff is idiot proof. It's so easy to use and actually MATCHES my skin. Wish I had that stuff back in high school.

If I don't wear makeup my face gets dry and itches and just feels 'worse' so I wear moisturizer and foundation, etc., too and am going to try the Estee Lauder soon, it's been recommended. I tried the bare mineral and it made my face feel tight and drawn so don't know what I did wrong but think it's my skin. I do think makeup keeps down skin issues in some cases. Not sure why.

I use physicians formula. It's priced well and I have no complaints. I get a few pimples when I am about to start. For whatever reason my face gets oily around that time (hormones I'm sure). I haven't used bare minerals but, I will say that the people I know of that use it seem to appear to have a lot of make up on (full make up). Maybe it is the way they're appling it, I don't know. However, from the responses I read it seems it is a winner. I think everyone's skin reacts differently to makeup. Try it, you may fall in love with it.

It absolutely can clear your skin up. For me, the mineral veil makes me shiny by the end of the day so I generally only use that if I'm getting really fanci-fied for nighttime shenanigans. The key I think is to wash your brushes every week or 2 & let them air dry.

I generally do wear make-up every day, but only if I'm leaving the house. I wear base, a drop of blush, eyeliner & mascara. It takes me a grand total of about 4 minutes to do my make-up unless I'm going out for the night & then it takes me several minutes to do eye shadow since I'm not used to doing it.

IT's the best. Been wearing it for years. I wear it everyday even when i'm at home. It doesn't feel like anything on your face. I have had no skin problems with it, and it is so thin that if you do get a blemish you certainly don't need to stop wearing it to clear it up. It's totally worth it. A bit more expensive I guess but 1 pot of the basic foundation powder lasts me 6-8 months.

Love it! If I'm not leaving the house at all I freshen up a little at least, because for me looking more alive makes me feel more alive! Wakes me up. Most days I wear everything..at bare minimum, bare minerals, mascara, blush, and lip gloss. And always do the brows!

Bare minerals is great for the skin and during activity. It's possible to wear makeup while dancing, and in my opinion more people take you seriously if you look like you take yourself and care of yourself seriously! Totally worth a try. I know if you buy it at sephora or nordstrom you can take it back after using if it's not for you.
