well in Italian tradition, we usually pay for the baptismal outfit, including a white blanket if needed... give a cold bracelet and often give money....

Baby's first bible? You could engrave it too. Just an idea. Good Luck!

My son recieve a cross lamp with a little boy praying on it. It is just a small little lamp but he uses it ever night. He also got a gold cross pin which he wore when he was baptised. He will then also be able to wear it on confirmation and when he is getting married.

These are some of the presents my sons got at their baptisms: Savings bond, piggy bank, a turtle night light that shines stars on the ceiling, bedtime prayer nightlight, silver cup and rattle and a plaque with a bible verse engraved on it.

When our son was baptized his Godparents, who are his aunt and uncle gave him a very nice Bible with his name and the date of his baptism engraved on it. They also opened a savings account for him and contribute to it on his birthday. Our son also received many very nice christian books as gifts from other family and friends so those are great options too.

savings bonds are the way to go. if you want to get a picture frame for a photo of you and him at the baptism thats great too but the savings bonds are something that he will appreciate so much when he is older. its what we do always

Well in our church it is traditional for the Godparents to buy their Godchild a gold cross that the baby can wear to church. I'm not sure how old the child is but my son was baptized at 7 months and he wears his with no problem. He only wears it when we go to church as he's obviously too little to wear it all the time, but he doesn't pull at it or anything. My daughter was 11 months when she was baptized and it's the same for her.

Perhaps this is a gift their parents might be getting him already, but I still have the one that was given to me on the day of my baptism and it's such a classic piece that I still wear it. If you do go this route, I suggest getting one that is also a classic piece so that he can wear it for many years to come. I know it might be odd for some to get jewelry for a boy...so hopefully you'll get lots of other ideas too! ;)

our daughter's godmother got her a beautiful cross that has a child praying on it. We have it above her bed and it's very nice.

We are godparents for my niece and wanted to do something special as well. We purchased a white blanket and had her name and birth date sewn into the bottom corner. We wanted something that was personalized, yet something that she would use.

Other ideas I've heard is starting a savings account for him or purchasing a savings bond (not sure these are worth anything anymore). I tried to stay away from any of the knick-knacky things as I am not a fan of clutter, but they do have some cool things online that you can get personalized. I do love the idea of purchasing a children's Bible. Something that they can read (and understand) with their parents.

Hope that helps!
