I know there is a nice one in Homewood. A little drive for you. My husband's cousin has come from New Lenox for years. It must be nice (her mother is VERY choosey). ;)

Check out local park districts, even if it's not your park district(it's only a little more $), they usually offer some kind of dance/activity classes for a reasonably amount!
Good Luck!

Hi M.,
I live in Chicago Ridge as well! Did you try the park district? I know they have a ton of things to do with children and I am sure they have a beginning ballet class! Did you get the park distrct flyer for Spring? If not, you can stop at any of the park districts (I beleive there are at least 3 of them) and get a brochure of all the activities they offer! Good luck!

Hickory Hills Park District has dance classes. Every year they begin in Oct. and end with a recital in June. My son and daughter have been dancing there for 7 years now, since they were 3 & 4. They are now in competition classes there as well, competing with their dance teams in and out of state. As a result of the experience learned, my son has danced in Chicago, in the Joffrey Ballet Children's Cast of "The Nutcracker" for the past 2 years. There were 5 other dance members from Hickory that have danced in "The Nutcracker" this past year. Hickory Hills offers a wonderful dance program with the help of their instructor Miss. Liz.

M. - I live in the Palos area and both of my girls (now ages 10 and 14) attended Stage Door Dance Academy. They are located in Oak Forest (158th & Oak Park Ave). I think it's definitely worth the drive (some students came from downers grove) as the professionalism exhibited by the teachers is outstanding. More importantly, they always had the girls dancing to age appropriate music and wearing modest costumes acceptable for their age. A lot of the other studios have their students wear costumes more like a bra and shorts. I always appreciated the acknowledgement that these are little girls.
