I am looking for a bakery that will actually DECORATE a birthday cake with winnie the pooh, roo, eyeore..ect from a picture but NOT just photo copy it onto a piece of rice paper. I am finding it impossible to locate someone who will actually draw the cake with icing. They either have plastic people they stick on or they use rice paper. Does anyone know of a bakery that still free hand draws the picture/character on the cake?

What can I do next?

So What Happened?

First, thank you all for your suggestions. After making MULTIPLE calls, the only bakery that will accomodate us at all by not using the plastic figurines is Kribels in Pleasant Hills. They will transfer the picture to rice paper for an additional $7. However, it is a small sheet of rice paper that has to account for most of the decorations and this is a large sheet cake.... we will most likely just be purchasing a cake that does not have a character on it.... sigh. Every bakery states they are not allowed to do copy right protected characters...only allowed to stick the figurines on the cakes.

I just recently started going to a small bakery called Pastries A-La-Carte on Rt. 51 near the Pleasant Hills Fire Department. They do BEAUTIFUL cakes and may be able to help. Worth a try...their # is ###-###-####. Hope this helps!

You may want to give Bethel Bakery In Bethel Park Pa a call The # is ###-###-####. I believe the reason you are having trouble is because of the copyright. This I do not think is aloud any more. This is their web link www.bethelbakery.com you can go in and veiw the picture or their figure option. Their cakes are excellent. I have never not been pleased. Good Luck!!

Your best bet is bethel bakery in bethel park. They have a Winnie the Pooh figurine cake, but I'd bet you could call and ask them for a custom cake.

I 3rd, 4th and 5th Bethel Bakery. They make very wonderful cakes. If they won't do it, you can try Moio's in Monroeville. I know, that isn't anywhere close to West Mifflin, but their cakes are also rather fabulous. Paddy Cake on Liberty Ave in Bloomfield may also be able to help, though I did read some not so nice reviews.

Hi T.,
I also live in West Mifflin and I recently went on a similar hunt for an Elmo Cake. I could not find a bakery in Pittsburgh that would do any decorating. They said that it violates copy right laws and they will only sell the packaged cake decorations or the rice paper picture. Sorry, but i called every bakery within 30 miles and they all said NO. Good luck! I gave up and ended up getting a cake with a picture of my son no it - I had him wear an elmo shirt in the picture. It turned out adoreable and the cake was delicious. I got the cake from Bethel Bakery. good luck.

Giant eagle does a nice pooh cake and they draw from whatever you give them. tell them you don't just want a picture copied. i second bethal bakery they are the best and each cake is amazing.you'd have to see it for yourself and yes they are worth the 20 min drive from kennywood. I don't think though you will find an all free hand anymore.my aunt works at giant eagle at south hill village direct market and she is wonderful at making cakes.
