I am wondering if anyone has used a product that actually works on really bad dry heels and feet. I am already embarrassed by mine and dont want to end up with big cracks in my heels. Thanks.

What can I do next?

My feet get really bad as well (where I dont want to show my heels at all) I found this online (Gena Pedi Feet to Go kit) got and tried it and LOVE it. It is as close to the same products that they use proffesionally that I could find. It even has the calus off which makes getting rid of the de3ad skin super easy. My feet have never looked better and the kit lasts quit awhile so you can't beat the $12 for everything. I would deff recommend. http://www.sallybeauty.com/Gena-Pedi-Kit/SBS-450660,defau...

When I have really dry skin I put either baby oil or petroluem jelly on the area then put socks or gloves, cotton work best, before going to bed. Sleep with them on and for me a couple of days of doing this they are better. Good Luck!

The best pumice stone that I have ever bought is one that I picked up from Bath & Bodyworks. It actually sloughs away all the dead skin without tearing up your heels. I aways follow up with massaging in some Eucerin into my feet and putting a layer of Heel-Tastic on the bottoms of my feet and then putting some cotton socks on afterward to let it all soak in. I have really bad heels also and this has been what works for me.

Hope this helps.

If you already have small cracks, I recommend Avon's cracked heal cream. You also need to get rid of all the dead built up skin, soak your feet (epsom salts or any type of foot scrub) and then use one those things that look like a giant emory board to remove the dead skin. The pedi-egg also works well. Put lotion on your feet every night before bed. To me it doesn't seem to matter the brand of lotion, just that you remain consistant and keep the feet moisturized. If you can sleep with socks on, lather up really well and cover with a pair of socks.

Avon's cracked heel treatment has worked for me. You have to use it regularly and keep using it periodically to keep from happening again. Try it!

I have the same problem. The only 2 things that work are 1) Callous remover (Sally's Beauty Supply). 2) Cover your feet with Vaseline and put socks on (do this for 3 nights in a row).

I soak my feet in warm water with apple cider vinegar and epsom salts. When the dry skin is all soft, I use a foot rasp to rub it off (it comes off very easily). Follow up with some lotion over night and your feet will be free of dry skin for awhile.

bag balm! my brothers both had major cracking in their feet~ bad enough that they would split open and bleed. My dad put a nice thick coating of bag balm on them once (twice if it got really bad) a week or so, put a sock over it, and let it soak in for about 1/2-1 hour. watch some tv, read a book, nurse, whatever you want then rinse it off. :)

The medical reason for most cracking skin is fungal in nature.
Cracked thickened skin around the heel is called Tinea Pedis "Moccasin Type".

This fungus is EXTREMELY hard to get rid of. Even when one might feel they have "won the battle" it tends to re-appear again.

I got mine from watering the front lawn and standing on the wet lawn barefooted.

The fungus is what causes the dead layers of skin to "build up" and get thick... the same as it does to a toenail with fungus.

Tea tree oil, apple cider vinegar ,and urine ( urea) are all effective against fungus, but it is a battle you cannot rest from. Prevention is a big key but also do not stop treating your skin, even if you think it has gone away. I would wait 2 months of "clear skin" before I stopped treating.

Bleach the floors of your showers every other day. Change socks 2 times a day- don't share shoes, don't walk barefooted outside, especially on lawns,
wear athlete's foot powder inside socks, change liners in tenny shoes. Don't buy cheap shoes made out of plastic made to look like leather- buy only leather. Scraping the outer tough layer of calloused skin is a must before you put on the tea tree oil, bag balm, or whatever. Tea tree oil is great on toenail fungus 2 x a day (the entire nail and the cuticle where the nail emerges)- but I think if you use it around your heel, after you apply it put some flexol or bag balm over the top of that. Dont just use tea tree oil alone on heels. With a toenail, one day of "missed" application will make you start all over from the beginning. The entire nail must have been grown out and cut off for you to be fungus free. So it is the same with the heels.

I have been known to let me heels go, and then needed to scrape my heels with tough grit sandpaper or even the edge of a scissors if I cant find the sandpaper- anything that will get that thick skin off so you can treat the fungus below it. Above all stay on top of it and treat every day, even if you think it better. Treat (still nightly) for at least a month or two after all cracking and dryness is gone.

Internal fungal overgrowth in the gut , lowered immune systems from antibiotic use , and 'acidosis' from bad eating habits will help fungal colonies get "a hold". The more healthy your immune system is, the less likely this parasite can get on board. That is why we see these kinds of parasitic infections are rampant in the elderly. keep the gut healthy by avoiding taking antibiotics, and if you must take them, get a prescription for an antifungal or if they wont give you one, use a probiotic like Culturelle. RAW milk helps fight gut yeast due to a naturally occuring yeast fighting enzyme, while pasturized milk contributes to fungus because the enzyme has been destroyed. The gut yeast are then free to feed on the milk sugars.
Olive leaf extract , raw virgin coconut oil, Oregano oil, and caprylic acid are all good gut yeast fighters.

In good health,
Gail

Hello, I have tried several things for dry and cracked feet. I have found the best thing to use is petroleum jelly. I just put it on at night and then put socks on and sleep like that. After doing that a couple times at night, the feet will be soft and cracks gone.

Hope this helps.

Acid Mantle creme. You will probably have to special order it from your pharmacist. It is the best product for over dry, and cracked skin out there!

Arbonne's Sea Salt Scrub and Foot Cream, Rejuventating Cream and Skin Conditioning Oil all work well. I suggest the Sea Salt Scrub then once they are exfoliated use one of the other products I mentioned regularly. Contact me in a private message for my email address, web site and if you include your email address I can send before and after pictures of some of the worst cracked feet I have seen. All of the products are Gluten Free, Vegan Certified, Hypoallergenic, made with natural herbs and botanicals and without mineral oil, animal products or by products and no parabens.

Just soaking and sloughing the rough edges of the heels helps immensely. The thicker the skin/callouses get, the more likely they are to crack. Then moisturize with lotion. A little bleach in the water is helpful, too, I think.

CVS carries a foot softener that's amazing! You apply it 1-2 times a day. I like to apply it after a shower and then slip on cotton socks. If you do this each day for a week you'll see vast improvements! The ingredient that makes the difference is urea. Hope you find it!

Over-the-counter best thing I've ever found is Flexitol Heel Balm (with 25% urea). I've found it at most chain pharmacies and even at Walmart. I've had terrible, painful cracked heels for most of my adult life, and this is the only thing that has helped. I've now also gotten a prescription-strength version (50% urea) since I mentioned it to my dermatologist. This ends up being a better value if you have pharmacy benefits in your insurance plan. Either way, it's worth it! Use it every day and have baby-soft heels. I wouldn't have believed it if I hadn't used it myself. Best of luck... and love your feet again!
