I am an extremely clean person, I brush throughout the day, i floss and use a tongue scrapper, I still feel like my bad breath won't go away. i've become self concious and really say as minimal as possible. What can I use or do to have daily fresh breath and my morning breath is the worse? I have tried various mouth washes but it all seem temporary. I don't eat meat, onions etc.

Mouthwashes contain alcohol and alcohol dries up the salivary glands. You need to drink as much water as possible and stay away from processed foods/lots of meat. Pretty much, those who are on this 'health food only' kick have the best breath. Good luck!

I WISH someone would pay attention to my answer to this question!!!

Look VERY CAREFULLY at your tonsils. There are things called cryptic tonsils, which means that your tonsils have a slit in them, and the slit gets filled up with putrid-smelling goo.

There are also tonsil stones, where matter gets stuck on the outsides of your tonsils, forming little white, noxious-smelling "stones." You can see them on the outside of your tonsils if you have them.

Both can be removed. You can just pick the stones off your tonsils (if you can control your gag reflex), and you can press the goo out of the tonsils if you find you have cryptic tonsils.

I discovered this when my daughter was little. She had always had bad breath, and one day I was perusing her mouth and I saw a huge white cyst thing that popped out when I pressed on her tonsil. From then on I had to occasionally push on her tonsils to remove the goo.

I checked my other family members, and two also had cryptic tonsils, while I, who have had mine removed, actually had one tonsil stone in a crevice in the tonsil area.

For some reason no one tells you about this, and I think even a lot of oral professionals don't seem to know about it. My dentist's assistant didn't know when I asked her the other day.

If you want to be kind of grossed out, look up cleaning out cryptic tonsil on YouTube. Man, you can find ANYTHING on the internet. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8FL1XxosGI0&feature=re...

I agree with Rachel. My sis had the same problem and she went to a (ENT)Ear Nose Throat specialist. She end up have to get her tonsils and adnoids out and she had a serious sinuis problem. It took a while for it to clear up but it did. So talk to your and see if this can be the problem.

you may want to have your sinuses checked. Its usually the first sign of them being infected.

Sounds like you are very fastidious with your oral hygiene. Bad breath is also the result of what you eat. It can be the sign of a health issue. See if you can pinpoint when it is the worst, by what you have eaten. Also did anyone else in your family ever suffer from bad breath? What are the most common foods you eat almost on a daily basis or eat or drink multiple times a week

Certain spices
Coffee
Dairy
Certain vegitables
Certain meats
Beer
Wheat products

Could be your body does not process certain foods very well.
Acid Reflux?
This may help solve this mystery.

Page is right......I took my son to his 6 yr check up & the Dr showed me the back of his mouth there was a little slit by his tonsils & said that some peoples don't close. She said it's no big deal but if he gets bad breathe or infections such as strep, tonsilitis etc just to remember about the slit. And worse case scenario is that they have to remove tonsils, but she's only seen that happen once in 25 yrs practice.

Mouthwashes can actually do more harm than good long term. I would be sure that you are getting 8-10 8 ounces glasses of water a day. I would also switch toothpaste. Some does not work with some chemical make-ups of some people. I can not use the baking soda ones. I do better with Crest than Colgate and the others are just a joke.... If that does not work, I would go to an ENT and have your sinuses checked. Many times there is blockage and infection that is causing the problem. Also are you sure it is a real problem? Has someone close to you told you it is a problem?Sometimes we are a little more subconscience than what the problem is.
