Hello :)
I'm almost 4 months along - pregnant with our 2nd child....now that the MS stage is over I'm not having many problems, except my back pain
A little background -
last year I had a breast reduction due to their size (34G) pulling and straining and causing lots of pain in my neck and mid back. Before we conceived I actually had an MRI and discovered I have something called a central disc protrusion with an annular fissure/tear in the same disc - in my neck. That's just the neck. I don't really know if there is anything else in between my shoulders where I seem to have the most pain...

ok - I'm pregnant, and don't want to and will not fill up on pain meds -- but can I use like a pain patch if it gets really bad? What is safe? I'm guessing tylenol if desperately needed (I think of desperately needed as pain of 7-8 out of `10) - anything else?

Thanks in advance.

Oh - also, was seeing a chiropractor for treatment, but it didn't seem to be working. She said if the treatment didn't work she would refer me to a surgeon, but of course that was before we found out I was expecting. I might go for surgery later after I deliver if it will definitely help. But what can I do presently?

What can I do next?

I use something called Pain-A-Trate. You can email me privately at ____@____.com, and I will let you know how to get it. (Yes, I buy it from a legit company that is wonderful to work with!!) I also use it for my sinuses, and have only had 1 sinus infection in the past 2 years that had to be treated with antibiotics!

I have fibromyalgia, 3 thoracic disks that are herniating (right between my shoulder blades!), and arthritis and scar tissue all over my back, as well. So....I am definitely feeling your pain!

The Pain-A-Trate is a cream, and yes, it is safe to use while you are pregnant...otherwise, I wouldn't be sending you this!

God Bless!!

yoga and pilates (yes they have prenatal forms of these) works wonders for my bad back. when i was pregnant the second time around, i spent alot of time on an exercise ball with a heating pad or a ice pack on my back.

I did water aerobics most weekdays & I would feel so much better the days I was in the water. It helped with the back pain & swelling of my feet and legs. I tried swimming laps but it exhausted me! But something about being in the water really helped.

Bless you R., I feel your pain. I went thru pregnancy with 2 ruptured disc in low back but also whiplash in my neck. I had med insurance and went thru physical therapy my whole pregancy. I did exercises, heat treatment, traction, electrical stimulation to the muscles. Then on my own, I Got in a swimming pool to take the weight off my body which provided some relief. There is a product called BioFreeze that is safe and works great. I purchase it from Dr. Phil Cook at Cook Chiropratic Center in garland, tx. Even when the pain is so intense and the idea of doing stretching & exercises is hard, do them. The exercises can breakdown some of the built up tension that occurs with pain. Best to you.
