Hi all,
Please help! I am looking for a babysitter for my two boys but don't know how much should I pay her. Does anyone know what's the current rate?

My younger son, Leo, will be 13mos and the older one, Maxim, will be little over 5. Maxim goes to school 1/2 day so, she would have Leo FT and Maxim PT.

If the babysitter stays with us Monday-Friday, should I pay her less? I am not sure if I will be able to afford to do this but I really want Leo to be home.

What can I do next?

So What Happened?

I finally found someone to care for my boys. The lady will stay with us Mon-Fri and we agreed to pay her $200/wk.

Thank you all for your help!!!
Love,
B.

ok how old are your kids again in 1 place you say 9mnths & the other 13mnths. And is seems your more looking for a live in arrangement.Where is the daddy? Cause i think you can get help from social services for childcare. Payment depends on how much you expect person to do. Alot of work sounds like is needed . I know you will be paying at least $100/week

I would say any where from $5 - $10/hr. It depends on her experience and what her duties are around the house.
I used to babysit 2 girls, 8 & 5. They would come to my home on Friday around 5:00pm and they would stay all weekend until Sunday around 3:00pm. Their parents owned a restaurant and they had to be there all weekend. They paid me $100. They also paid for all the food and activities for the girls over the weekend.
I hope that helps!

Are you looking for care during the day while you work or for nights out? Because that can be a big difference. Cause around where I am located for night rates usually run about $8.00 or so an hour and I run a home childcare during the day and for fulltimers I charge $3.50 and hour. But like I said it really depend on what type of childcare you are looking for.

It really depends on where you live! I see that you are in NJ but I'm not sure of the area. Anyway, around here (Albany, NY area) the going rate is $150/wk and up for full time, home daycare. It varies for part-time. But my friend babysits in her home and she gets over $300/wk for only 3 days! She is located in New Hampshire where cost of living is much higher. You need to research the rates in your area and decide if you want to take your kids to a babysitters house (the cheaper option) or have someone come to you (that is usually an hourly rate, around here it can go as $15/hr!) There must be a nanny agency in your area, check it out. Also, call around to daycares in the area, they should give you a good sense of the going rates. Good luck!

I charge 150 for a child under 2 and 125 for a child over 2 full time,(w/ a 10% discount for sibs) so here youd be looking at almost 200 a week for both. I could not afford to put my children in daycare while I worked so I opted to open my own daycare i get the best of both worlds... being with my kids and making a modest income! Also from my experience youll pay more for someone to come to your home than if you were to put your children in an inhome daycare. I have a friend who does childcare for people in their homes, and its 10+ $ an hour depending on how many kids.
