My daughter has had severe diaper rash for several days now. I have been changing her frequently and have tried several creams on her. (aquaphor, Triple paste, desitin) Today she developed little bumps. It has not gotten any better in several days? I have heard it could be yeast infection??? Anyone know how I should treat this?

What can I do next?

You should take her into the pediatrician. The cream needed to treat yeast infections is prescription only. The one that has worked great for my kids is something like Niostatin (spelling??). Good luck :O)

Oddly enough, my son had one when he was an infant. After taking him to the doctor, he advised me the best way to heal the infection was to let him be without the diaper as it just adds to the problem. Not real practical for a baby, I know. It did work for us. I put several towels under him when he slept and when I did diaper him, made sure that it was really loose. Hope this helps!

PS - I love "Butt Paste". It is a cream and worked very well for my son - you can get it at any store. Once we used that, we never used anything else :)

My daughter got those too, when she got really bad diaper rash. My sister in law was the one that told me what it was because her daughter got it too. You can buy over the counter creams for yeast infections. I think we bought anti fungal cream, but check with your doctor and ask what works best.

It usually clears up within a few days.

Good luck!

I got plain yogurt, warmed it & put it on my little one's butt- worked great. You can also try Lotrimin (for foot fungus).

My Dr. gave me a prescription and it was cleared up in a day.
(Clotrimazole/ Bethamethasone cream)

Yeast infections can't be properly treated with diaper rash creams! Diaper rash creams only help to prevent them, but they won't help them go away.

If you have monastat cream at home you can use that. JUST the cream though. It does sound like a yeast infection.

You may want to be sure it's a yeast infection before treating it. I thought my daughter may have had a one but it ended up being an allergic reaction. I think it was from something in the Huggies wipes. Since then we've switched to Pampers Sensitive and haven't had any problems.

I have two girls and they have both had those yeast infections when they were on antibiotics. The pedicatrician had me buy the cream like Monistat that is for women but you just rub it on the affected areas, it works great. Take care, H.

There is a diaper rash ointment called Resinol. My sister in law always used it on my neice who had diaper rash a lot as a baby. That is the only thing she found to work. Good Luck!
