You're going to have to let him CIO. Go to him, tell him it's night time, to go back to sleep, give him a kiss and then leave.

Sounds about right for that age.
Unfortunately, you're going to have let him CIO. He's old enough to know that when he cries, you come in. The only way you're going to stop is to stop going in.
If you MUST go in, just lay him back down and tuck him in and walk out. No words, don't pick him up, no sippy...
You rule the roost here, so he just needs to learn that.

Is he teething? Is he sick? Maybe an ear infection? Is he going through a growth spurt so that he is hungry and needs some milk? I would try to figure out what keeps him up.
It is hard to comment when there is so little information. Is he able to go to sleep by himself? How are his naps?
When he wakes up crying, what do you do to soothe him?

Well, mom, you're going to be up anyway with the new baby....there is little rest for moms of new babies....can your husband take a shift every night? Can you nap while both are napping? Even as you are nodding off while standing up changing a diaper, try to remember, this too shall pass! They WILL ALL eventually sleep through the night! Congratulations Mamma!

How do you feel about Cry It Out?
Is he still in a crib? I hope so!
Can you [play some soothing music or white noise in his room? Maybe he's hearing something & waking up?

I am not sure you want the answer.....I think you will have to let him cry it out. My husband and I had to do it with both of our children at 11 mos. It took 4 nights total for each of them. We would lay them down and when they got up we made sure they were not hungry, wet, have a fever, teething, etc and if all was well, we patted their butts and shhhh'd them and then left the room. They cried and we went back in to pat and shh again after 5 mins, then 7 mins, then 9 mins, then 15 and so on. One night took over an hour of back and forth and they finally cried themselves to sleep. The second night got a 'bit' better. The third night better and the fourth night, they woke up for a minute, we did not go in their room and a minute later they were asleep....on their own! ;o) It is sad, we held hands and I cried while I thought they wondered why their mommy was not helping them. Truly, as long as nothing else is wrong with them, they just need to learn how to fall asleep on their own. good luck
