Roughly 1/2 pound a week on average. SO typical scenario, baby would gain two more pounds by 40 weeks.

For me, at 32 weeks my daughter was approximately 5 lbs, and at birth, 39 weeks, she was 7lbs 12oz.. They say in the end about a pound a week is avereage, in my case it was more like 3/4lb. Good luck with the new little baby!!

Hi Cristine, I am 37 weeks pregnant and when they checked the baby last two weeks, he was 5Ibs and 11 ounces. The doctor said that it is normal. In the last few weeks, babies gain a lot of wait. So don't worry. That is perfectly normal. Congratulations and best of luck.

Once you reach 36 weeks, it is normal for a baby to gain approximately 1/2 pound a week, so if your baby is 5 1/2 pounds at 36 weeks, at 40 weeks, he'd be around 7 1/2 pounds. Please remember that if the weight estimate is from ultrasound, these can be inaccurate. In 11 years as a childbirth educator, I have seen this often, as much as a pound and a half off.

Good luck

I think the average is 1/2 pound per week in the last month....just remember that the ultrasounds are not 100% accurate in terms of measure and wt.

Enjoy your last month!

i don't know if this helps or not...but towards the end of my (and my friend's) pregnancy, we both were told many different weights for our children. being that we were both in a family practice, we saw different dr.s just about each apt. i was told around 36 weeks that my baby was about 5lbs, 8lbs, and that she would probably be born close to 10lbs...she was born 8lbs 5oz. now, my friend, being that she's a smoker, was told that her baby was about 2, 3, even 4lbs and that her children (2 different pregnancies) wouldn't be born any bigger then about 5, 6lbs...WELL, her son was born close to 9lbs and daughter somewhere between 7 and 8lbs...BOTH COMPLETELY HEALTHY...so i think it all depends on the dr, and how good they are at estimating weight of the baby. i was told it's all really just a general guess having to do with water weight, baby weight, and just plain ol gaining weight.

Figure about and ounce every day or a pound a week. It all depends. It most calculations Doctors figure the average baby is 7 and a half pounds. However, my son was only 6 lbs 1/2 an oz while my daughter was 8lbs 9oz. Believe me they will gain quickly enough once they lose the initial weight they always lose right after delivery.

On average .5oz per week. So that is 2 more lbs by birth. However, they usually can estimate how big a baby is by ultrasound plus or minus a lb.

a LOT. babies grow a lot those last four weeks. plus, it's not really an accurate weight that they are giving you. i asked my doctor about that when i was preg with my first and she said there's no way for it to be totally accurate, it's like weighing a ball that's floating in water.

Babies can grow very fast in the last month of pregnancy. The estimation about the weight is exactly what it is, an estimate. Usually + or - a pound. So your baby could already be 6.5 pounds in reality. In one month, she can probably gain 2 more.

Believe me, babies grow the fastest in the last month. I didn't even have stretch marks until my last month, and then BAM I couldn't believe how I grew!!! Your baby will be just fine.

At my 36 week they told me my daughter was 6 lbs. then 3 days before I went again they told me she was still 6 lbs. March 11 she was born at 8lbs 1oz So i guess it depends on how accurate they are but probably at least another pound or 2

My OB told me the same thing when I was 36 weeks along and my son was weighed 8lbs 15oz at birth (I went to full term 40 weeks). Babies really grow a lot in the last few weeks!
