Hi moms! I will be hosting my sister's babyshower this summer, (July) and am eager to get started with ideas and planning! I'd love to hear your ideas for prizes, and game ideas that you thought were great! I plan on asking guests to bring a pack of diapers to be entered to win a "big" door prize. But not sure what the prize should be. The only other game idea I have is the top baby names of the year she was born. There's the old stand by of baby bingo lol. I'd really like to make it nice and fun. I really would like tips on "neutral" prizes, that everyone would be happy to get!
TIA Ladies :)

at the last shower I went to we played a game where you had to split up into teams and come up with as many songs as you could that had the name baby in them....then you had to sing it! it was really fun and I had never done that before.

they also played a game where they had a list of baby items that they had already gone to target and priced and you had to go down the list and come up with totals. it was really fun too. they said before hand that they picked target brand items.

Ok I am hosting my sister's baby shower in May and I found the cutest theme! It's a cookies and milk baby shower. So what you do is get those big glass jars and fill them will different kinds of cookies. You can also buy the little glass milk jugs from Ikea to fill with white and chocolate milk. Then when the guest come they can got to the cookie bar for whatever cookies and milk they would like. My sis is having a boy so all the decor is going to be brown and white polka dots with blue added in. Then we are playing 3 games. First is match the celebrity to their baby. So for example what is Gwyneth Paltrow's baby's name? Apple. I have about 20 celebrities for that one. Then I have match the song to the artist but all the songs have the word "baby" in it. Like Hit me baby one more time is Britney Spears. And again I have about 20 questions for that one. Whoever gets the most right wins. The last game is guess how many cookies in the cookie jar. (to go with the cookie theme) I got a clear cookie jar and will fill it with the mini cookies. Then the prizes are those cookie mixes you can buy. I wrapped them in blue tissue paper with brown ribbon and attached a cute cookie cutter to all of them. Then for the thank you gift for all the guest we got clear baggies with a note that says thank you for coming please take some cookies home for you and your family. So then all the guess can go back to the cookie bar and fill their bags with cookies. Pretty cute right?

You could set a timer when your sister starts opening gifts and when it goes off, whoevers gift she is opening gets a prize.

People like Candles, picture frames, Bath proucts, full size candy bars. Candles are so common that I kind of get tried of them.

As a big door prize, maybe a pedicure or spa day or dinner and movie or something like that.

At my baby shower we played a game in which various chocolate bars were melted into diapers and we all had to guess the type of candy bars by sniffing the diaper. It sounds disgusting but I nearly peed my pants laughing. I have a photo of my grandmother with her nose buried in a "dirty" diaper that still tickles me, almost ten years later.

You could buy lots of onesies, and have all the ladies decorate/paint them for the baby. Then the new baby would have tons of onesies, each different from the next!

I recently went to a shower and they made a diaper tree, which was very cute for a gift to the mom-to-be. They had candles/lotions/picture frames as gifts for the games, which were songs with the words Babe or Baby in them and you filled in the blanks; a game of matching the baby name to the celebrity parents and also parents and which shows they went with. They downloaded them all fro the internet. Good luck and have fun!!!

At my shower the girls made little diapers out of pink felt (2 by 3 inches or so) that each guest wore as a pin during the shower. They each had to grab one as they came in. At the end of the shower everyone opened their diaper. If the diaper was messy (aka brown puffy paint lol) they got a prize!

Here are some games we have played at showers I have attended: Baby Shower Bingo (leave a few squares blank for guests to fill in prior to gifts being opened), Don't Say Baby (You can use diaper pins, safety pins, clothes pins, or make necklaces w/ baby themed trinkets and anyone caught saying baby after the game begins has to give up all the pins/necklaces that they have to the first person that calls them on it. The person with the most pin/necklaces in their possession at the end wins), How Well Do You Know (ask the parents to be some questions before the shower like names they have picked out for boys and girls, due date, their full names and birth dates, misc. other questions like color of nursery etc. Then ask the guests to see who gets the most right), Baby Words Scramble (they have to unscramble baby words), Guess Mommy To Be's Tummy Size (each guest has to pull off toilet paper in the length they think would be closest to the measurement around the mom to be's tummy without actually measuring or wrapping it around her), Guess The Baby Food (take a few baby foods and mark with numbers and remove the label but be sure you have multiples of the same colors, no duplicates, and you need to keep a master list. then pass the UNOPENED jars around for people to guess which fruit/vegetable is in the jar...carrots, peaches, squash, peas, green beans, spinach, bananas, apples/applesauce, pears, is what works while throwing people off....then since they are unopened they can go home with the guest of honor).

For my sister, we hung a clothes line and asked that guests bring an item (not all in newborn sizes) of clothes to hang on the line (served as gifts and decorations) and then we used clothes baskets as centerpieces and various people filled them (me, my other sister, and this sister's friends were throwing the shower so we each took a basket or two to fill with laundry products, laundry items, etc...themed baskets if you will.

This shower was right around Halloween/Thanksgiving so we did some Harvest themed door prizes (candy jars etc) so they were unisex.

get the little plastic babies and put them in ice cube trays with water ... and freeze them then during the party have everyone take one and whoever's melts the fastest wins! Many women try to hold them in their hands to help melt them or in their drinks, I even saw one go to the bathroom and use the hair dryer!

When everyone shows up, give them a necklace with a binky on it. Anytime someone says the word 'baby', whoever catches them saying it steals their necklace (only one if the person has a few). Whoever has the most necklaces at the end wins. :)

Your 'big' prize could be a gift card to a spa day (or even just a massage, manicure, pedicure, whatever). :)

Thank you for asking this! I am cohosting a shower in June and I'm in charge of games.
One thing I want to do is fill a baby bottle with pink M&Ms and whoever guesses closest to how many are inside wins.

I think a good door prize would be a gift card of some kind.....also, I like to scramble the letters of various childbirth terms or names of baby equipment and so on.....have at least 12-15 and make a couple pretty difficult, such as "malulerb lorserlt" (umbrella stroller) or "moisteyopi" (episiotomy)!
